That's a fair comment. Scottish oil was used to bail the UK and the Thatcher govt out in the 80's. They were fucking things up as badly (or worse) than any post war govt until they created a short term boom on the back of Scottish oil and used deregulation and privatisation to turn London into a casino. It's the reason I think Scotland should be debt free on independence, but I still think they are having a laugh with their plans for an independent economy based on a 70's vision of oil prices and future demand.
They aren’t though. Do keep up.

Because 90% of it is in Scottish waters and was/is being sent to a City in the South of England.

Don't know how to dumb that down anymore for you. Will I draw you a little map perhaps?
You are quite right, but I suppose the counter argument is that the oil is/was UK rather than Scottish oil.

If it was spent evenly through all regions of the country, then yes. You don't see much of that investment in the desolate towns and cities devoid of industry in the North of England.

That is where I feel almost guilty about being pro-indy. I have a very strong affiliation with the north. With Scotland following the SNP it has essentially left the North at the mercy of the Tory majority in the South.

Perhaps you need to look at a map that shows sovereign UK waters, that might help you understand reality rather than some wishful thinking.

Is Scotland separated from England by a stretch of water? No it is part of an island landmass that by world standards is piffling in size and comes in at No.78 in the world list. That includes Northern Ireland, which I personally would have no problems with being part of a combined Eire.

It makes no sense whatsoever to be an independent country. The Scots have problems with power being centred so far south in London but so do we living in the North West, that is the issue the government should be addressing.

Free scoff of Breakfast and lunch for all junior kids if the Nationalists stay in,
just hearing on the news, it's like Santa's Grotto up there.
They lap up extra money thats for sure. But woe betide anyone who reminds them of it, because its all theirs and they earned and deserve it above everyone else in the UK.

I don’t understand your logic. Are you saying Scotland should not be independent because of its land mass size? If that’s the case should Ireland? Austria? Who are of similar size?

you mean the government sitting in London should address the imbalance of power and money that is being generated in London when many members of that government are growing wealthy on the back of money generated in London. It might work.
