Indyref2 and the Scots have rejoined the EU?
Very good chance Spain would veto Scotland joining the EU and surely economic suicide if they do leave. So many holes in Nicola Sturgeons pick and mix independence ideas.

But hey if they want to go they can go. Wait till they see the issues of having thier own central bank and currency, or adopting the Euro.

As long as i can still go on holiday there its no skin off my nose. Our Scottish friends despise the SNP and believe independence would be calamitous. Shes definitely very very marmite north of the border. And leaving would turn up that heat on her massively.

Sturgeon responds to Johnson's blustering buffoonery after kicking his party's arse.

Those assumptions aside, she ceritainly is not marmite, let alone enough for two verries. The fact she has just won almost 90% of all constituency seats tells you that. Some may find her marmite and your friends too, harldy a metric for the entire country north of no border.
Many non-snp voters still rate her highly, and welcome her being the First Minister, as do a fair few elsewhere in the UK.

Anyway, there is a lot more to it than her now, competent and likeable or otherwise.

You must have a great many Scottish friends to come to that conclusion. It’s not what her personal ratings or her landslide victory would suggest. In my experience, those that don’t vote for SNP still have a high regard for her. Maybe I just don’t have as wide a circle of friends as you though.

nice of you to grant us our democratic right. Cheers for that.

ps. No chance Spain would veto Scottish membership of the EU, another myth.

What stake would that be?
I live in the UK which consists of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. If the union is to break up and it goes to a vote then I believe everyone in the UK should have a say.

Firstly can I say I despise politics and politicians of all parties.
I was born in England. Raised to be patriotic. The union flag has always been my flag. British first English second.
Served in the armed forces and went to war with many great lads from north of the border.
Just saddens me that I may see it disappear.

SNP leaders are and have been desperate to be the one that takes them back to 1707.

she talks very well but when her policies are scrutinised she falls apart pretty easily, but i except most politicians do. Andrew Neil took her apart a couple of years back during an interview and she was a bumbling mess.

every chance as they dont want to set a precedent for Catalonia.

Sorey i have to point this out but you dont have more domestic right than i do as an Englishman.

I think you need to plug the gaps in your knowledge.

First the Scottish economy, and its potential is massive. Even the staunchest Pro Union economists concede to that fact. We have a very modern economy consisting of renewables, engineering, financial services, tech, creative, construction. Fuck we even have a space industry! I won't mention the abundance of renewable energy potential and food, drink and natural resources.

Scotlands current economy is very strong for such a small population and we have one of the highest educated populations per head anywhere in the world. So we would need to be mis managed beyond the realms of possibility to make an arse of that.

There will be initial investment costs, such as infrastructure improvements and setting up federal banks etc. But Scotlands potential is significant to the point it could, no it should, become a nordic elite economy.

The only folk I know that don't like Sturgeon are orange Lodge types. I think I can name about 5 Tories that I know. The rest are SNP and the younger generations are all strongly pro-indy.

It's the North of England that pains me. I have strong family connections to Manchester and love the Northern cities. They will be left to follow the will of the Tory South. Brexit for me though has opened up an ugly rift to the political ideals of us Scots and a dark side to the union I am not comfortable with.

Anyway its all semantics as Boris wont grant another vote. His ego wont let him, he will just end up bribing Strugeon with more UK benefits, like that fool Cameron did a generation ago. Oops sorry 7 yrs ago.

Get that referendum and the Welsh should do the same.

This government is bringing hundreds of years of Karma back on it's people thanks to the actions of very rich Englishman over the centuries.

you take out more than you put into the UK economy, check it out. Dont believe that tripe that magic pole came up with the other week. Where he said you contributed twice what you took out before oil, which by the way now has a huge economic liability due to decomissioning costs that the UK taxpayer has been told to pick up. That was cracker by mpole. Then add on all the extra costs that you will incur as an independent state. Stuff you all now take for granted and which she just glosses over when quized.

Listen i dont doubt you would be ok, But it wouldnt be an easy ride as most of you think. And when it goes wrong you will be led by just the SNP with no other effective option on the ballot paper. That is a poor thought by anyones standard.

Like i said if it happens then so be it, as long as i can still go on holiday to enjoy your splendid country and hospitality as i have done since i was a kid then its fine by me. Have a good evening.

Very fair comment, will be a pity for sure and all on the back of a few politicians egos. The fool Blair kick started it with devolution.
