Yup - had it done a year after my 2nd kid so that was 1995.
Asked to be knocked out rather than local anesthetic. Woke up an hour later (or however long it was) and had to stay in hospital for about 4 hours after and then released.
They gave me these pills and said if it gets a bit sore take these!
Was back in work the next day, though took me a bit longer to walk up the stairs!
After the 2nd day, the old sack was black / dark purple and blue and by the 4th day were aching like fuck. Like you'd been kicked there 10 times! Got home and the wife said ''take the tablets' which to be honest I had forgot about. Took them and they knocked me out for a while, woke up no problems at all.
2 months later I had to produce a sample for the hospital and then a month after that, another one.
What was really funny was at work I took a group of kids abseiling. Done it loads of times with different groups. This was 2 weeks after. Some of them were nervous but I was telling them they'd be OK and giving them confidence. They all went down the rock face and then i was last. I put the harness on and just as i was going over the edge, everything tightened up and I went ''ooooh!'' and backed up and told the instructor i was giving it a miss. The kids were going mad, shouting up that they had been scared but still did it and everything I had told them, to help them do it, I was bailing out on them.
I walked down the side of the rock face and told them ''look, 2 weeks ago I had a vasectomy.... things got a little sore when the harness tightened...''
There was a few seconds silence and then they all pissed themselves laughing!
