The south stand

They should give away fans a block and half on each tier of the 3 in the East stand imo.
That would ensure a singing end, and also it would generate a better atmosphere on each of the tiers allowing it to spread through out the Etihad Stadium.
The away club would have a better idea of how many tickets they could sell, so say fulham they would have just a block in the top tier. Villa a block in top tier and a block on tier 2.
The likes of Liverpool and the Rags a block or more on each tier upto the normal allocation.
That giving more opportunity for City (because of empty seat segregation) to sell to there own fans, when the away fans dont sell all of there full allocation.

I think that's a good suggestion. The blocking off of J Spiral would need to be addressed though. Last night was ridiculous at G Spiral. They should have allowed access at other East Stand spirals. I tried this when I saw the queue but my card didn't work at the next Spiral - so I had to go to the back of the queue for G. Fortunately I just got in for the KO, but a lot of others didn't.

I was on the opposite side (R+T) and no queues at all - so I'm astonished they didn't let everyone going in at that end use all the entrances along that end! It's bad enough outside G and J and the south stand on a normal match let alone one entrance down. It's not like you can't walk along inside. Senseless making everyone queue up when there are empty entrances elsewhere.

You can't get through under the posh seats for UCL games so I don't think they could have let you use the south east spirals as you'd have to go up to L3, walk across, and back down again.

I thought it was a success tbh. What people have got to remember is that it was never going to go from the poor atmosphere we have normally to something akin to a Turkish or Greek league game in one night.

I sat in the North Stand and i saw and heard a difference.

It looked great with all the flags and all blues together and at times, around 6-7 times when there was singing started by the south stand it really travelled as one really quickly and the whole ground participated which is what people have been saying for ages.

As other times it was dead as a mouse but that was because it was a tense game and there was no away fans at all. You stick 2700 Bayern fans up there and see the difference, it will be mega.

People have got to stop thinking that we are going to turn it into a cauldron of noise, it will never be that. English and City fans just aren't vocal or passionate enough to produce an atmosphere for 90 mins, there is too many health and safety laws and a different culture with too many kids, older men and tourists to create anything other than a good atmosphere at times.

That's why i thought last night was a success, albeit a small one. It made a difference and like i said the real test will be when there is a couple of thousand fans.

We sit in EL3, which was the point I was making. There was no logical reason not to allow us access via other spirals. As you say, it's completely open all the way along L3.

Quite simply, it failed.

Why is that? Because you couldn't shout at a fat bloke from an opposition team?
Get behind the team.

It was gash, the vast majority of the fans don't want it changing, just a small group of fans who seem to think they speak for the rest of us. Its taken 9 years for us all to eventually find place to sit where we enjoy the atmosphere the best we can (granted its not the loudest) and all of a sudden people want to change it. Its never gonna be Maine Rd, listening the the 'fans spokesman' on Radio 5 last night can tell you that. The only thing that will improve atmosphere is unreserved seating or standing.

Didn't work. Fair play to City for trying it but don't do it again please. We need the away fans nearby to make a decent atmosphere, simple as that.

Why do we need the away fans near us ?
How can we judge last night when they only came in a Taxi.
At least wait until there's a few thousand in the upper East and then
we can compare.
Regardless of what anyone thinks of the atmosphere the end looked good
and credit should be given to the lads that put the effort into it.
