The Southampton Thread!

Another team like Arsenal whose league position now should be seen in the context of the quality of opponents.
They have faced so far this season:
Sunderland: 20th in the table currently
Crystal Palace: 19th in the table currently
Norwich City: 18th
West Ham United: 16th
Fulham: 14th
WBA: 12th
Swansea: 11th
ManU: 8th
Liverpool: 2nd

So Liverpool and United away, games they have taken 4 points from?

Surely those are two of the tougher fixtures for any team throughout the season?

And probably 4 of those teams will be in the top 10 by the end of the season (Swansea and WBA).

We will see. Southampton are currently 3rd in the table. All I am saying is this position is way above their actual level.

Yeah most likely. I don't think they're fixtures have been that easy though. They've played probably 5 teams who will be in the bottom half and 4 teams who will be in the top half. 3 of those were away games though (WBA, United, Liverpool), and they won two of them and drew the other. So I think they're position is deserved but maybe unsustainable.

I think a lot will depend on what injuries they pick up during the course of the season and when - or if they pick up a cluster of injuries in one part of the side.
Certainly playing very well at the minute

Most seasons throw up situations like this it was West Brom ( I think) last season, Blackpool even hovered up there, it's after Christmas were the rubber hits the road
