Have a look at what FC Porto do besides running a senior men's football team and you'll see there's good reason for them to conduct their business in that manner. Southampton are a different story, this is Katherine Liebharr asset-stripping to get her father's investment back from the cluband more.

That's what's happening in a nutshell.

When she took over from her father she admitted she didn't like football.

Now she's proving it, the FArce will still say she's a fit and proper owner.

I keep on saying it. You can put all the legislation you want in place regarding the running of football clubs and pretend that it will stop another Portsmouth, Leeds etc, but if you get owners who are shite, then your club is in danger. As proved with the guy who has taken over Leeds, the FA are powerless to legally enforce a 'fit and proper person' standard.

Easy to say that, but how can you keep an unsettled player? And when one goes the rest want to follow

By keeping the first player, or signing a suitable replacement before he goes. Not really for debate though, the owner hasn't made any attempt to hide her intentions has she?

How do you stop a player like Lambert going when he's 32 and a Liverpool fan and they come in for him. And how can a Southampton bring in top class replacements? Teams like Porto and Atletico Madrid are much bigger clubs, who have much better and bigger pools of talented players which they can trawl for replacements.

they are being dismantled. there is no hope for teams without big money. Chambers is a good prospect, but he's only had one season and he's already being sold. Rumours are rodriguez and schniederlin are going swell. How is this fair ?

Would be funny if when we play the dippers at home, the announcer said: 'Welcome to the Etihad for today's game between Manchester City and Southampton.... oops, I mean Liverpool!'

The Saints fans down here are fuming, but they are directing their anger at the players, rather than the owner. Lallana in particular is getting bucketloads.

£16m, wow.

Reports here that Rodriguez will sign a new contract, Schneiderlin to Arsenal or Spurs are the rumours locally.

I feel for the Saints fans, on the verge of being regular qualifiers for Europe and have it all taken away from them.

This sums up FFP in a nutshell.
Major teams get bigger and bigger sponserships whilst the rest feed on scraps. No team has a hope of finishing in the top 4 now with exception of say 6 clubs. Its 2 leagues in one, the race for the title and CL and the rest hoping to stay up.
Teams that show promise ie Southampton, are asset striped by teams with the money.
There is little hope now for teams to compete with the big boys and we just got in before the doors slammed.

Feels So sad for Southampton fans. They have every right to go ballistic. To see a team do so well and then next season are relegation fodder is hard to stomach.

i dont think its got anything to do with ffp they have plenty of money, but there owner apparently doesn't even like football and is trying to make her money back, they are selling off all the clubs assets
