The Squad planning thread

GK: Costa
LB: Ait Nouri
RB: Wesley
CM: Reijnders
10: MGW

I reckon it’s already sewn up, if they were on average £50m each that’s the £250m gone.

I don’t expect anyone else to follow other than maybe another keeper to replace Ortega.
like that but spend the MGW money on livermento and play O'Reilly and Nico there

am I the only one who think Pep will not want both MGW and Reijnders unless there is one being sold of the Gundo, Bernardo, Kova trio (which he also doesnt want as too loyal to them)?
if all three staying I cannot see Pep not giving them bunch of game time next season too.

not mentioning Foden is also a decision if we use him as a wide player or centrally.

Just seen this on Twitter, out of/in possession potential teams next season...

Still personally think Pep will sadly stay loyal to Gundogan/Silva but I wouldn't mind Kovacic coming into the middle over MGW and maybe Reijnders at times, think he's been proper good these last few weeks.

I'm also still not 100% sure of this Gibbs-White signing, he's nothing compared to KDB but does seem to do a decent job in the middle. However, it's clear City want him, so they must see a future in him!

Pep said he doesn't want too many new faces I believe, so maybe 4 new signings in the starting XI is a bit much, probably will stay with Nunes at RB if he doesn't leave and one of RAN/Livramento don't come.

Not a big fan of Costa. Heard he makes too many mistakes, would rather Joan Garcia.

If pep wants to stop the rebuild he needs to leave since it’s going to fuck us up

Think Kova will go tbh. Nico G will get the 6/8 role he has, Turkey awaits

I think we could probably get both MGW and Liveramento tbf, maybe Wesley is the back up option. Fuck knows.

What I will say though is I don’t understand how people would be happy with playing Nico, a 20 year old fresh out of the academy as our De Bruyne replacement and not happy with replacing him with one of the best 10’s in the league in MGW.

Not saying he’s as good but nobody is, and he’s available, and he’ll probably be happy to rotate.

Because no one sensible keeps looking at our squad and thinks anyone we buy is as a Kev replacement

you cannot replace that leveel of player as they are rare, what you do is adapt your midfiled with whats available.

MGW is an atracking midfielder (8, 10, 6 etc is nonsensical new terminology) O'Reilly is an attacking midfileder being played at left back but at 20 has proved he can handle the prem and prority wise fully.promoting hom makes sense.

We are not replacing Kev we are replacing midfield options which we did with Nico and hopefully Tijjani, after that we need fullbacks.

This is solid team of 21 that I think looks good

Then for backups we have: Gundogan/Bernie, Akanji, Nico O, Lewis, Eche, Reis, GK3

Backups is where I think some more loans or sales could happen to free up space, as I think around 24 or 25 is what Pep would want, but obviously with just bringing in 4 players, lots have to go to make that size work.

Rodrygo is kind of a bonus, but I like his profile in Marmoush' spot, as well as his suitability to play false 9.

I also didn't even bring in MGW, because with Reijnders, and depending on who goes or leaves, the squad is already quite big!

That would be a summer haul that could challenge.

I am in the minority here but i like our Right back duo ( Nunes and Lewis), I think they are far better than they get credit for.

Reijnders for Kevin
Rodrygo for Doku
Ait Nouri for Ake
Costa for Eddy

I don’t get pep saying there won’t be much if a rebuild as we are crying out for it and surely we will just fall further behind the pack . I have a feeling we are gong to be very disappointed come the end of the window .

I would imagine 3 or 4 will come in. A lot depends on departures as we only have KdB out of contract this season.

What do you want him to say, we are signing 10 and I cant wait to fuck off half the squad?

So if I have this right and all goes expected, our final squad next year would look like this...

GK
  • Ederson??
  • Ortega??

DEF
  • Livramento
  • Ait Nouri
  • Dias
  • Gvardiol
  • Khusanov
  • Ake
  • Stones
  • Nunes

MID
  • Rodri
  • Nico
  • Reijnders
  • MGW
  • Gundo
  • Bernardo

FWD:
  • Haaland
  • Marmoush
  • Doku
  • Savinho
  • Foden
The Midfield still looks like it would be lacking creativity, I still wish they would bring in a creative out and out #10 that has the vision to pick out a pass
