The Squad planning thread

Nico O’Reilly is a great player and I want him to get significant minutes next season…even if it is at right back!
 
The buzz surrounding new signings is fun but I wonder when we will begin hearing more about potential departures?

I think the outgoings are already planned for most of them? Loans or the guys have nil balance on the ammorization sheet will go and fairly cheap fees and their big wages gone.

The problem there is that Gibbs-White already has multiple seasons of experience under his belt and the lung capacity to get up and down the park for 90 minutes three games per week. O’Reilly just doesn’t have that capacity yet and probably won’t for a couple more years. He won’t get it playing from the bench either. I’m never particularly keen on loaning players out, but if we do see O’Reilly’s future in midfield, then this season coming, if we sign Gibbs-White an have excess, then it may be the right time for a single-season loan.

they might have been told, but doubt city have any offers for anyone yet. Agents will be out and about, expect the sales to drag into late July

He has great technique and I think City is the best place to improve on that and learn from Pep so I don’t really want him loaned and missing out. It’s not ideal if he isn’t getting game time but I feel he might not continue to improve if loaned out and Pep won’t be here forever.

As I said, I’m not keen on loaning players out in such circumstances, but unless Guardiola changes his ways and uses his bench both sooner and completely, then minutes will remain scarce and players will fail to develop fully. It’s all fine learning from Guardiola throughout the week, but if he needs a three-goal cushion before he can ‘risk’ playing them, then it’s futile.

They will get done though, even the likes of Gundogan and Stones do a year loan basically in a free on their last year to save the wages. People worrying about squad space shouldn’t, I’m pretty sure that Viana hasn’t forgotten the rules etc ;-)

only need to sell a couple and loan a couple from the squad to make it work as is. Just depends if he wants to buy anymore or not.

I do wonder if he will be forced to use them as the old guard drift away. His minutes were the equivalent of 12 full games last season and I hope he will get more going forward.
 
Some of the main areas that needed addressed if all goes well have been nailed by Hugo haven’t they? More legs in midfield, a real top level tricky creator and a LB finally? Really wish we had tgat RB nailed now as well for the CWC and using it as a way to get the new guys intergrated abd then anything else could in and out as required?
