We can’t slate the young wingers for lack of GA and laziness then bring back someone that is 30, can’t consistently contribute and downed tools in his last two seasons for us.

I should have made it clear, I don't for one minute expect us to bring Grealish back. But with the game effectively won when Savinho came on it was a disaster from him - not in isolation - but in terms of helping the side see the game out. Grealish would have got us up the other end of the pitch, taken free kicks when needed and been a composed figure. We didn't need more goals and assists, we needed to keep the ball and see the game out.

There’s a buy clause on Akanji. They have to win the league and he plays a certain amount of games. It’s all possible and I did read they will push for the deal even if criteria isn’t met because they are happy with him and we are asking for a low fee.
 
Don't think the squad is too far off, we do need some quality additions

Haaland - Foden - Doku is a strong front line supported by Cherki (who I genuinely think will be a star) and Marmoush. Savinho & Bobb need a loan or a permanent move, I have faith in both but not at us.

Semenyo would be a nice addition, but I think Midifeld is a bigger concern

We need to help Nico, Rodri cant be relied upon and nobody can do what Rodri can do. Bernie is gone, Kovacic is going to be past it... we need some new legs

Elliot Anderson would be a clear option, energy and technical ability in abundance.

Another option could be Tonali, hes 26 in the summer and has been a bit coy on his long term future. Can't see Newcastle getting European football so maybe its not impossible. Think hes class and would be a huge compliment to the squad

Centre back we need to habe some serious conversations. Gvardiol-Dias looked strong but its kinda falling apart a little. Don't just wanna blame Dias only, as Gvardiol has struggled but Gvardiol has the age/ceiling on his side..... need a long term partner imo. Khusanov could be that guy, Bah could be, Reis could be.... be its hard to know

Less we say about the full backs the better, but I think its weak across Europe their isnt a lot of talent
 
Were in exactly same position as we were last year. Needing Cover to give Rodri a rest , now its needing cover to give Nico a rest. Whos Attainable in january? Not many id imagine.
