The Squad planning thread

Thats what i was thinking regarding the CB volume now mate? It would also change things up for us and possibly refresh the tactics allowing us to evolve.
Of all the systems Pep has used not sure 3CB and 2 wing backs has ever been one, be surprised if he started now, my guess is we continue with 4222 and 433.My guess is the midfielders and squad we'll have next season with suit more the 4222.

Was just thinking then we are overstacked at CB if the system doesnt change?

True but i reckon that Bernardo, Kovacic and Rico are out and i cant shake Rodri may go as well.

It’s abit weird to say but in a way we need Spain to not win the World Cup. The Spanish press will go into overdrive if they do, Madrid will try it just for good PR.

I think he wants Haaland money mate which is the sticking point at his age.

Ignoring Rodri for now,and assuming we buy Anderson that still leaves,
Rodri, Gonzalez, Foden, Anderson, Reijnders, O 'Reilly, Cherki. Fine if we are playing a 4 man box or diamond midfield, overstocked for a 3 man midfield. We'll see though by the summer we should be able to tell from transfer links in and out.

Maybe but Madrid always act in wanting to have the best PR possible Perez is obsessed with Madrid looking amazing and the dream destination.

Spanish ballon dor winner , winning the World Cup and knowing Rodri he will be vital to that. Is probably the best PR Madrid could have. Then it’s up to Rodri if he forgives them for what they did to him at the ceremony.

I’d give Rodri whatever he wants number six is so important and he’s still one the best in the world in his position.

I do think Anderson is his long term replacement I thought he was a 8 but a Forest fan and palace fan were debating about Wharton and Anderson starting for England and the Forest fan said that he starts for England, as he’s one of the best midfielders in the league receiving the ball with his back to goal deep , but also wins the most tackles, which let’s Rice do his thing for England.

That doesn’t sound like a 8 that sounds more like a 6. He’s also only 23 years old

We need two proper athletic strong quick midfielders.

Rodri will be off in the summer. IMO.
He won't get back to the pace of the PL. His injury, coupled with his age and size of him will he an uphill battle.

Nico Gonzalez has come on leaps and bounds but in games he looks like he is wearing lead boots at times!

Rodri is getting closer to his best with every game, last 2 not too far off at all.

I think Maemoush may move on though so opens up a space for Foden wide again maybe?

Think the days of Foden as a wide player are gone, can only see him central now,if anyone was to play wide it would probably be Cherki. Not sure what will happen with Marmoush, seems to be getting plenty of minutes now, whether that continues when Doku comes back unsure.

Cherki is better than Foden central imo mate, Phil needs to find whats wrong and fix it asap! With Semenyo and maybe even Savinho that could play central up top then maybe Marmoush goes.

There isn't a huge difference between what we are saying, we agree many of our squad are better suited to inside positions with width coming from full backs, you are suggesting we would have an extra centre back, I think Pep far more likely to go with the extra man in midfield. Essentially though both formations without wide wingers and 2 up front.

Still think against the Elite teams he will struggle. I dont think we will ever see the Balon D or Rodri ever again sadly. If he was 5 years younger then maybe.

I just think the pace and physicality of the PL has changed. Coupled with the fact the opposition are allowed to kick fuck out of him with zero punishment from referees makes it even harder for him to get back to his best.
