The Squad planning thread

Maybe, but from what he says think the most likely outcome is he stays next season and next year we decide between a replacement or Gonzalez.Doubt it changes things this summer.

I’d like that but the club would be stupid to not do it if Madrid offer the money in the range of 60 to 70 million. I’d love Rodri to stay but he’s still an asset and ballon dor winning asset I don’t see the club letting him just leave for free at 31 years of age.

As a Fan it’s brilliant if he stays but from a money perspective it’s not what you want a ballon dor winner leaving on a free

On the flip side though it looks like we will be going two seasons without the League title after this season. Having Rodri back at his best in the heart of our midfield gives us a much higher chance of winning the league next season than having to bed in 2 brand new players. The club won't want to go 3 seasons without the league title. A title charge with Rodri is surely worth more than 60m.

We absolutely need a ball player in midfield. Look how easily we nullified Arsenal because their midfielders are shocking at building through the midfield. Not sure Anderson and/or Tonali are that good at it.

Anderson is a 6 more than a 8
Tonali is a 8 more than a six with high work rate.

If Bernardo and Rodri go that’s your two replacements makes sense with the links now that haven’t gone away.
I guess the club needs to sort the Rodri situation out which as well probably gives an answer to Nico G.

Kovacic probably also going, hopefully Nico OR gets to play midfield going forward.

Tonali talk is the hardest one to read - probably mens someone else is going because it sounds like Anderson is done.

I think Neves and Kvara both really wanted PSG, that said we obviously never tried. Just based on reports no one else had a chance.
i think Neves was open to City, i remember Bernardo courting him

but we weren't 100% in to him

PSG was only one who offered a deal and he just accepted

PSG also were the only ones in for Kvara

Both amazing players they are lucky to have them

I'd prefer to keep Rodri even if it meant losing him on a free next year. But if they were to offer silly money (which I doubt), I'd expect the club would take it.

If that happened, I'd be going all out for Bruno Guimaraes. Losing Rodri and Bernardo at the same time would leave us in desperate need of a world class controller in the midfield. Nico G, Anderson, Wharton etc have potential to be that player. Bruno G is that player already, and he has 2 years left on his contract at Newcastle. It would take a huge offer but we'd have the money.

As I said though. I don't expect Real to go high enough to make a deal this summer worth our while, unless Rodri forced it. And I don't see any reason why he would.

The problem with Bruno is he will be 29 in November?

We know Madrids recent transfer strategy is to disrupt players and get them on a free. Cant see them bidding for Rodri just flirting with him and trying to get him on the cheap.
