The Squad planning thread

Not an immediate concern but its a concern that hes shit and sums up the kind of second rate players we been signing
He isn't shit at all. He is something different to what we already have at the club. Supporters wanted direct players and when we did get that direct player we deem him to be shit. Same with Savinho although he could do with getting a morale boosting goal.

Doku is frustrating but people forget how young he is. He's a few months older than James McAtee, who everyone still thinks is a kid. He has basically been injured since scoring a belter against Fulham. He was the only player who turned up at the FA Cup final. The week before the final, he tormented West Ham to ensure the final day of the league season was straightforward. He won the penalty at Spurs that set up the final day. I have very few concerns about him in the long-term.

Not sure we will even get a dm in this January tbh. Ederson was United main target last summer and will be this January. Zubamendi seems linked with Madrid? What are the alternatives if we were not to get either?

There must be more than two DM in world football, I would imagine.

Ricci, Stiller, Larsson, Reijnders, Wharton, Veerman, Brazhko etc. at a guess

Haaland 12 goals in the prem
All of our wingers combined 1 goal

We just don’t have threat in attack on the wings like we used to
Isn't that due to the setup???
I assume our idea these days is to have wide players playing wide to supply Big Erl - trouble is that approach just isn't working yet (I do get people thinking it may never work!)

Seems like this has been on the horizon for 2years but no one at the club could see it. Going back for Gundogan was a massive mistake but thats the tip of the iceberg.
I think the Gundogan situation suited everyone all around
I have feeling that no one expected so many injuries and Gundogan having to play every match.
Releasing/ loaning/ selling Jesus Zinchenko Laporte Cancelo Sterling Delap Palmer Lavia THB Alvarez Callum Doyle Tommy Doyle etc.in a little over 2 seasons was too much
Obviously some wanted to leave but any of the above would strengthen our current team

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I don’t understand why he would either, but I can’t see us engaging in bidding war with United or Madrid either?
depends on where he whether wanna play , if he wants UCL then it's between us and madrid. does he start in real over tchouameni and camavinga? don't think so, so that leaves to us where he would walk in straight to first 11

RM must be desperate for a central defender in the January window.

Reijnders would have been in the PEC Zwolle side at the same time as Phillippe Sandler, so somebody never rated him, and we could have picked him up from AZ for a comparative pittance but instead bought Nunes.

Whats your point?
