Bit of a sam Lee drop this morning, says City want 4-5 players but want to lower the wage bill. Not sure that should be the priority after a drop off tbh. I get not wanting to bring anyone in on what Kev was on straight away, but again it reeks of our new net spend ethos that directly contributed to diminishing returns with transfers.
Doubt there’s much in his wage bill comment. A replacement for Kev will probably be on a bit less and then a replacement for Ederson would as well. It’s something that will just be a natural condition of our business rather than a key objective.
May be rodri or gonjalez further foreward with wharton behind them specially if we are not getting wirtz. Everyone rates wharton v highly. We let him stay at palace last year. Liverpool are sniffing around him. Home grown as well.Agree but they are completely different types of player
Wharton is a deep lying playmaker , would be amazing in a double pivot next to Rodri , but I think we need someone higher up the pitch with KDB going
It’s a conundrum with how they are going to piece the squad together with the need for homegrown signings or releasing more foreign players
Trimming the wage bill also, to me, hints at departures of youth-squad players rather than continuous loans. I'd expect to see the likes of Perrone, Phillips, Wilson-Esbrand and Kaboré all sold to free up some wages.Trimming the wage bill can also mean giving up on more players. Bernardo, KDB, Stones & Ake, Grealish, Ederson are all on high wages. Their replacements will most likely not be. The only exception would be Wirtz I assume.
The club doesn’t need 10 more players just less injury prone ones. Ake and Stones are taking 2 spots for free at this point
Nearly at state pension age as well.Any one interested in signing vardy. Premier league proven, home grown, less salary, and a back up to haaland.
More chance of Colleen Rooney taking him.Any one interested in signing vardy. Premier league proven, home grown, less salary, and a back up to haaland.
be funny if spurs signed himAny one interested in signing vardy. Premier league proven, home grown, less salary, and a back up to haaland.
The priority is to bring in young, hungry and talented players which have the bonus of being on less money.
Replacing the likes of Kev, Stones, Grealish, Bernardo, Gundogan and so forth who are seemingly at the end of their time here is going to be the task for Viana.
The combined wages for those more than pay for the likes of Wirtz and Reijnders for example, we wouldn't be worse off with those two would we.
City spent like 60 million on Nico so gundogan could rest during CWC and come back next season to keep starting ahead of FodenI can only assume (hope) that Pep is using the new players sparingly in readiness for the CWC and then rest quite a few of the first team until the start of next season.
I didn't say it was Peps priority. It will be the clubs though.Choosing Akanji to be on the bench ahead of Khusanov & Reis tells you that Pep still not willing to trust them even as a back up players.
From What foden has shown this year he hardly deserves a starting spot over anyone. Hopefully he will come back firing on all cylinders sometime soonCity spent like 60 million on Nico so gundogan could rest during CWC and come back next season to keep starting ahead of Foden
And then after last game I expect a lot more on players leaving to dropIf/when we confirm champions league qualification, i expect more concrete signing info will come out quickly to try and get at least a couple of deals done for the CWC.
Agree, what a cracking player when on form. Get him back to his best and it will be like a new signing. From w
