The Squad planning thread

When our club find a gem, being guarded about making that name public is the best option. The fact that he has mentioned the name of this player shows he is feeling fairly confident that the player will end up at City in the future.
He said it's planned for him to come for pre - season training and then decide his future

Apart from the right-back area, all attention needs to go on the midfield, but it's increasingly looking as if we do not have the patience as a club, let alone some fans, for project players. Recent signings and movements suggest that we're instead looking again for more established players.

Can’t argue with that, you make a good point. I do though concede that Arsenal will be the dominant team for next couple of years at least. Once they get a taste of winning PL the next trophy win will be easier. They don’t need to revolutionise their squad like we do.
We shall see...getting the next trophy sure wasn't easy for Liverpool. They faceplanted after winning the league with Klopp and now Slot.

I get where you are coming from and you are throwing me a bone. In all honesty though Arsenal have quality throughout their Squad similar to what we once had at our peak. Liverpool just had a very good team but squad wise they didn’t have depth.

But as you said..we shall see. They haven’t won this PL yet, just us and other teams not exactly challenging very hard to ensure they don’t.

No this Lad - Ruan Pablo

Basically plays for City football Group Club, Esporte Bahia. The report is about his time on exchange to Manchester City a year ago. Since then he has got into the Brazil National team and represented them at U17 World Cup where they reached the semis. City have continued to monitor him alongside another Bahia player, Dell, who also represented Brazil U17 World Cup team.
heard of him

he has potential, but very raw

has good speed, mainly beats he's man with speed and physicality, is ok crosser

needs to work on placing he's shots, ball control is bit lacking, uses a lot unnecessary touches - experienced CB would dismantle him easily

probably would suffer heavily vs low block teams

reminds of Vitor Roque as of now

Donnarumma is the only exception. Can’t count Semenyo or Guehi yet. Ait-Nouri is hopeless and doesn’t even resemble a footballer. Cherki, to jury is out
Ait-Nouri has been injured tbf to the fella and then went off to AFCON but from what we saw last night, yep pretty hopeless.

Cherki on the other hand, Can’t believe you can even begin to question the guy’s ability?

So what do we think will happen if Rodri arrives in the summer and has still not agreed a new contract? He will then have one year left on his contract.

Do we sell or let him run contract down? If Pep is still our Manager I expect Pep to let Rodri run it down. I would sell. There is still a lot of value there which can be used towards a new player.

if its adamant that he won´t extend his contract, should sell him, find a replacement and move on.

A LB is hopepless because he played his first 90 minutes in a City shirt in a few months at RB. OK.

I think it's imperative that we sign a top quality midfielder before the window shuts, as it could determine CL qualification, which is an absolute must.

We look dreadful in the middle of the park, completely void of pace, power and control.
Against the rags they ran through us like we weren't there and although they've been shit all season, each of them was a full international so can accept it as a one off shit show. Last night was a different kettle of fish, for which there is no sugar coating the abysmal nature of the performance. Our midield depth and quality is a genuine concern, as if a Norwegian minnow can take us apart with consummate ease, PL sides will smell blood and I fear the worse if this continues, such is our fragility. It really is time to speculate to accumulate if we want a strong finish to the season. If we choose not too, as soon as it is possible we need both Rodri and Nico G in the middle of the park to beef it up and give us some power and control.

Wouldn’t be trusting Viana with another penny. Hopeless to date

What, because we've lost 2 matches? There's nothing Hugo Viana can do about the injuries to the squad. If anything, we've had injuries to Gvardiol, Dias Bobb and Savinho and he's moved quickly to rectify that by bringing in Guehi and Semenyo (ahead of the other top clubs) - both of whom are highly rated around the English premier league.

Read looks a talent but not exactly established like the level and age we signed Walker? I guess there is a low bar of right backs that are attainable

I think some people need to remember the players that have left since that treble winning season

Ederson
Walker
Akanji
Laporte
Gundo
KDB
Grealish
Mahrez
Alvarez

This summer will see the departure of

Bernardo
Stones
Ake

That’s 12 players who played huge parts in our success. Some of the talk about some of the lads who signed in the summer has been a bit over board, the likes of RAN and Reijnders. How many players have we seen struggle in the early days under pep and go on to succeed and that was when we were a top team. These lads have had to come into a side in transition and hit the ground running. Give them time.
