The 'Stamp'...

My take after several slow-mo analyses:

Cahill came in to the side of Vinnie with only his left leg, tho' not leading with his toe. His foot went over the ball then down.
You can see the second Cahill goes down to slide, Vince's left foot is already in the air, leg turning slightly. Clearly he was going for the block. His foot doesn't change trajectory, his eyes stay on the ball. Vinnie's L foot comes down on Cahill's L as Cahill takes VK for a ride, wiping him off both feet (VK doesn't even have time to jump up). Vinnie's arms go up, weight was on the weight baring leg (right) and going back-clearly he's falling. If he meant to stamp down on him, his weight would be forward, and to his left. Really, Vinnie should've fallen on top of Cahill but appears to try and maneuver himself.

It was Cahill's millisecond decision that did them both in. IMHO, he would've reached the ball 1st if he hadn't stopped/braked & just remained upright. But seeing the train that is Kompany decided he didn't want to to sacrifice his body. (Just Vinnie's). It was an unnecessary, foolish slide.

Take it a step further, these split second actions are ingrained. Just look at their history.

Cahill wrecklessly launched himself at our captain. Only himself to blame for his injury.

Vinny didn't 'stamp'. A stamp is a pre determined action where you know what you're doing. But I do think Vinny put his studs into Cahill as the situation happened, without it being pre determined. Cahill went in rashly, Vinny didn't stamp on him but he didn't not put his studs into him. Does that make sense? I think both should have been booked or sent off.

This doesn't mean I think it was a dirty action by Vinny. But it wasn't good.

It also has no baring on the numerous very poor tackles and elbows from Everton players over 90minutes.

Howard Webb won't change his mind - it would be a sign of weakness by the best referee in the league.

I doubt if it will be reviewed, unless Hanson heads the review panel. Cahill went in with both feet, so what do they expect to happen? Kompany levitates above the ground in order to avoid contact?
Webb isn't the best ref in the league. He gets a lot of big decisions wrong.

Correct: Vincent gave Cahill what he deserved, as his challenge was very rash indeed and could have led to Vincents injury if he hadnt have lifted his leg out of the way and quite rightly gave Cahill a taste of his own medicine. And then poor little Timmy got a yellow for HIS DANGEROUS PLAY!

Bobby C, bang on the money for me mate. Fortunately Vinny saw what was coming and gave the dirty bastard what he deserved.

Had Vinny not lifted his foot it is likely he would be in a plaster cast now. Cahill's tackle was reckless and malicious.

More of a landing on than a stamp. VK did not exert any additional force other than natural gravity and he did not move his leg to deliberately land on Cahill. It will be interesting to see if Moyes hysterical school girl bleating and the brainless comments made on MOTD result in the first retrospective action taken against a player that was seen to be fouled by the referee.

Webb may well try to outdo Crappenberg by suggesting that he didn't see any of the incident including the bit where he gave Niggly Roo the yellow card. Funny that Moyes didn't have much to say about the outrageous multi-attempts to put David Silva out of the match. Hypocrite.

That's incorrect actually, he did comment.

He said he was happy with 'the job' his side had done on Silva.

Twat.

Quick question; is it me or is Vinny attempting to plant his foot in his natural stride to enable himself to shield the ball out of play?? Cahill's foot is merely in that space, right??

If agreed, then why are the 'pundits' trying to make it out to be more malicious than it was??

It's just an easy space filler in the tabloids/on shit radio airspace.

Let them speculate.

You'll realise soon that the media don't speculate about losers...take it as a compliment.

5 yellows is an automatic fine for Everscum. That's why their bothered cause they aint got a pot to piss in ;)

i also thought this but.......down the local this afternoon an ex ref
told me it was 6, apparently they changed the rules this season.

I think we have to remember just before the tackle Lescott had just took the piss out of cahill. The aussie was livid and tried to do Vinny and anyone who has played the game will know that moyes is a twat.
