The Stench of Tory

When we talk of neoliberalism (which is what we're experiencing now) we are talking about something that has fuelled inequality and enabled the 1%. All it means is a stage of capitalism in which the financial markets were deregulated, public services privatised, welfare systems run down, laws to protect working people dismantled, and unions cast as the enemy.

And if the Tories get in again, in some shape or form, it will continue apace.

For hundreds of years the Tories have ruled for the richest 1% and since universal suffrage they have constantly found a significant chunk of the country willing to be conned into voting for them.

Same here two Joe hockey talks all the time about how he needs to sort out the tax system as people are paying half their money in tax . What he neglects to mention is it is less than .2% of the country who pay that level tax.

But if you are in the top 1% and you are representing the top 1% and your media pals are in the top 1% then all you need is to try to con people into believing they can get there early too.

Why should anyone pay half of their money in Tax , it's obscene.

The biggest con trick by any Government is that the amount we pay in Tax is fair and they know best how to spend it.

Why not the country will have provided that individual with education, health, safety, roads, hospitals, schools, university's and everything else - the wealthiest .1 or.2 % who ou that are salaried so have not even risked capital and have benefited hugely.

Under labour the top 1% paid 23% of the total tax paid. They now pay 27%

Don't tell me that is fair, and don't tell me it should be more.

I do think it's fair amd I do think a lot of wealthy people should pay more. I think its absolutely fair and think that basic morality and a basic tenet of decency should mean we aspire to lessen the divide between the haves and have nots.

By the same logic everyone should pay something

no one should be able to live totally off handouts. Fairness dictates that you must put in before you can take out and that is also a basic morality that the left wing seem to conveniently ignore

The over embracing of capitalism has lead to a power shift away from our representatives who ask for our support once every few years actually representing us and instead being nothing more than a mouthpiece for business. This coincidently happened around the same time MPs started getting retained by business. We now find ourselves in a situation where 85 billion of tax payers money floats off to corporate bank accounts every year in sweeteners, tax relief, low wage top ups, while tax revenue is avoided and turned a blind eye to. We are being right royally screwed as a nation and the only people who mention it a internet journalists. You watch the Marr show. They had Gideon on the other day. Any mention of him signing off the HSBC tax avoidance fraud? Nope. All that happened was he facilitated Gideon in crowing about his apparent fantastic budget. We are screwed unless a real political revolution happens. Until the people get together and say we need a better quality representation, we've had it!

If every kid was given a decent education and upbringing and a decent opportunity to learn a skill and find work I would agree to an extent. I don't believe it's true though . Also I suspect Many need help before they are earning well so it doesn't make economic sense to deny any draw down before paying in.

I don't think the left believes in benefits for life it believes in a fair days pay and in rights for some of the hardest working people out there. Look at some of the most unionised left wing professions nurses, teachers, social workers - underpaid and the backbone of the country

How is this any worse than girls on estates knocking out kids from the age of 14 and expecting the country the feed clothe and house them and their offspring for the next 40 years?

People bang on about HSBC but people living their whole lives on benefits and they may have come from several generations of families who find it acceptable to do this and they breed a new generation who do the same because they know nothing different in the long run they will cost the country much more than HSBC

I never hear the lefties saying we should address this.

Yes. And you never "rightys" asking WHY young girls have low expectations and are undereducated and desperate for love, attention, family etc. It's like you only hear them snearing at the addicted, saying it's some sort of weakness, never once questioning why people eat junk, take drugs, drink themselves silly like Winston Churchill did!!!! The right are into personalizing blame.

Maybe if there was good, respectful, fairly paid, regulated mass employment around, maybe, maybe just our underclass may start to feel a bit more like work is fucckin worth while instead of being lectured to by the likes of Ian Duncan fookin Smith who as well as owning his own propertie, has the luxury of living rent free in his wife's families Georgian country house estate, which over the past ten years, it has received €1.5m in income support from taxpayers
