Perhaps BBC are deliberately being provocative with the guests they invite with a view to increasing its popularity ? Then move it to a more suitable slot perhaps.
Political programs eg Question Time are composed of speakers with usually differing political views so that some sort of fairness can prevail.
I know that pundits for live games appear to be from Liverpool or Man U for viewing figures but for programs about football topics rather than the actual games it does seem unusual to not have a balanced panel when the program agenda is laid out beforehand.
