League mergers would actually help, I am not against this per se. England doesn't need to do so, neither do France or Germany. Holland and Belgium want to merge and I think this going ahead? Scandinavian league would be okay, merge a few in eastern europe. Merging leagues that feed into a pyramid is fine in my book, I just hate the closed shop aspect.

Just look at the strength of Yugoslavian football before they broke up.
