There is. If the takeover hadn't happened, that team of 2008 would have carried on winning nothing, most likely the odd drop in division and our only success getting back to the PL.

The take over did happen though, and a rather huge amount of money has been pumped into the club to transform it from what it was, to what you see now - pretty much unrecognisable from the bottom up. So no, we wouldn't be where we are organically. Barnes, amongst some other shite he said, had it right earlier. If the game is to attract these billionaire owners and investment, you can't have it both ways.
Nothing has been ‘organic’ since the creation of the Premier League and its establishment-friendly financial rules in 1992.
Even Leicester’s ‘fairytale’ was only achieved following a billionaire takeover and some very dodgy financial chicanery to get them promoted in the first place

I still think those words and the way it was delivered on our own OSC were the masterstroke. On the basis of that, the Red twats and the Juve snake went all in.... the rest of what I now believe was a calculated sting is history.

For those who insist an explanation and an apology is required and heads to roll.... it won't happen (and nor should it imho) for obvious reasons. We move on, a couple of the other teams may struggle to get over being had.
That’s exactly the way I see it mate. If it was Survivor, we outwitted, outplayed and outlasted our bitter enemies.

Dubai. Look at the current coefficient standings. Leicester are light years behind the red shirted brigade and unless the points allocation calculator is changed will never catch them.
It’s 5 years. Leicester get CL this year and then stay there and of course they can. There was a time when City’s 5 year ranking was shite and a couple of years out of the CL will see Liverpool drop down as well. As I say it’s two teams out of the whole of Europe. It’s shit but it’s nothing like as bad as the SL.

I have to say I'm shocked at how many posters are bending over backwards to act as apologists for the club. The club behaved in the most deplorable way and we need to accept that. It doesn't reflect badly on the fans, the players or the manager but the club fucked up and we can't defend that.
I'm waiting for an official communication from City before I roll out the tar and feathers.

I was thinking about this last night. The best solution for me in all this and to make things more competitive and interesting would be a completely random champions league draw. That way let’s say a team like Leicester gets top 4 and a lovely draw in the champions league. Just maybe they could progress to a later round and make a fortune or even win it. If we drew Barca Bayern and Real in the group stages and went out so be it. Also I would make the 4th place team in the prem play a knock out game with the Fa cup winner for the final champions league place. More risk and more excitement and more chance for smaller clubs to get in the big competitions.

Dont feel any need to defend it, nor get overly upset over it. Fuck ups happen, no harm done and we move on.

I like it, makes perfect sense. Never going to happen.
