If I choose to turn my back on my club, it has nothing to do with City being an elite club. It’s 100% that I don’t agree with a closed shop, invitation only money printing league as that will be terrible for football

Can you explain how you deem that to be hypocritical?

What were your thoughts on the CL when we were a mid table or yo yo club? Did you think it was fair that the same 4 teams were coining it in every season, increasing the disparity of those who had & those who hadn’t?

Did you think that was fair & great for City & the wider footballing family?
We've just bankrolled our way to a decade of champions League football, so we are already in that closed shop group as far as we are concerned. Yes others can have a fluke season, but if you spend your way to having consistent seasons in that competition, you're in that closed group with the other elite Mob.

When we were a mid table yo yo club that was my dream, even just to have one season in it, like Everton, who didn't even get through the qualifiers.

I also dreamt one day we'd have an Abramovich who would bank roll us to success. He's done that, has our Sheikh. And I tell you what, I won't walk away now just because he's pushing us to a competition that is purely for those Elite clubs.

Fuck. That.

My club.

Electorally this is would be a win with all football fans. You can tell from what they are saying and who’s saying it, that they are serious.

Even better - these are clubs and their disaffected fans are largely in Labour voting inner city wards

It’s going to take more than a few backhanders and a new kitchen for Boris to make this go away.

The Home Office alone can end match policing and deny work permits. The Treasury can audit everyone to death.

I fear our club has made a catastrophic error of judgement.
The timing of the decision is unbelievable as well. Saturday's result may well have been influenced by prior knowledge looking at some of player' body language. We look like being kicked out of this year's CL semi-final, and the Carabao Cup match will be overshadowed. We have self destructed during the key part of our best ever season.
If us, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are thrown out of the CL that will finish any chance of any negotiated position. It was the same with the UEFA FFP battle. Once UEFA officials started leaking confidential information we had no choice but to go to court. There is always a point of no return in these disputes.

Is it fashionable to say bad things about government all the time?

I'm grown up and educated enough to make my own mind up. If you're one of the 40 % that support the current mob then you're the sheep not me.

Name me one occasion that any Government, either Labour or Tory, has done anything constructive for the game as a whole. They've had plenty of opportunities over the years but have done the grand total of bugger all.

I bet Everton feel like the drawbridge is being pulled up just as they are on the verge of becoming a force again too. New stadium planned, top manager attracting better players. Some good additions over the next few windows and you could see them getting top 4.
The toffees might still get in among the five "open slots" -- eventually I'd surmise those will all be closed but I think the SL is effectively going to be holding open auditions for which other European sides get in over the drawbridge (which will be contingent on facilities, drawing power, side quality, brand name recognition, etc.).

Which are the largest European cities without representation in the SL (I assume eventually Bayern, PSG and Dortmund do come in, though I may be wrong)? I'm not sure. I'd bet Ajax will definitely be on the list. Roma maybe? Basel? Thing is you might need two per nation to choke off the domestic leagues entirely which -- again in my view -- is the ultimate goal here.

Do they really think the fans are going to watch the 14 clubs play one another over and over every season,??? They night get overseas subscriptions but nobody will be in the stadiums and I fear those trying to attend will be attacked. Fuck me I thought the days of chanting for our owner out were long gone!
It's a rival to the Champions League not to the Premier League

Dippers aren't getting re-instated. They're the one of the 4 losing quarter finalists that are signed up
Sorry I'm confused, PSG go through, Dortmund and Porto go through by default. Neither Dipps or Real go through as they both signed, so play off between the two teams that they beat in the first KO round for the 4th place?

Been going since 1964, season ticket holder since 1976 and this is the most disappointing decision the club have ever made( including some dodgy signings). If it is not reversed considering the club statement that said they will consider supporters and stakeholders then it will be the death knoll for me and many others.
