They're gonna have a hell of time trying to sell it the second time around I think. Especially given how fast they folded.

Anyone who is against ESL, check the new Uefa CL format from 2024 in details.. Not that much difference believe me...

maybe not as sterile closed shop as ESL (but we did not know the exact format of it, is there any relegation, how teams are choosen to play in in apart from founders etc) but hardly one that will make you think ohh this is such a fair competition.

its actually less fair than current 32 team format. media played a masterstroke to hide the new CL format under the carpet with special privileges for cartel clubs etc.
If the cartel are gone, it would be like starting from scratch.

As long as it doesn’t include the words Vice president Joel Glazer then I’m all for it.
I still think those words and the way it was delivered on our own OSC were the masterstroke. On the basis of that, the Red twats and the Juve snake went all in.... the rest of what I now believe was a calculated sting is history.

For those who insist an explanation and an apology is required and heads to roll.... it won't happen (and nor should it imho) for obvious reasons. We move on, a couple of the other teams may struggle to get over being had.

The late Sir Bobby Robson...

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

CLASS ...

I'll believe that, if and when those awful amendments are scrapped. As of now, that's still what's happening, still on the road towards a closed shop. UEFA have work to do themselves from here, to prove they are "for the fans".

Csn someone pls share page number for the withdrawal and ia it true that we lwd the exodus? Sorry just woke up (8hr time dif). Appreciate if such updates can mention page number in topic title.

It all started breaking around 6:45-7:30pm here UK time. Chelsea were mentioned first as preparing to leave and then about 30 minutes after that Man City had left and seemingly became the first club to actually leave.

Those times are more when the official sources were coming in like BBC, Sky etc. Looks like Twitter was just after 6pm for City and presumably sometime after 5pm for Chelsea to prepare to leave.

Also:

#ManCity had already prepped papers and withdrawn from European Super League by late afternoon and briefed the UK press. The Chelsea board then leaked to make it appear they were first to do so, but they have yet to formally do this. [via @davidyelland]

Edit: Actually does the briefed the press part mean that a lot of press already knew but had to wait on it?

I usually refuse to click on the Mail. But that was worth it.
I suspect that Khadoon has his mitts all over this. He's just gone and handed a shower of wannabe yank gangsters (and their pet fiat panda) their arses on a plate.

They had it coming.

There is a huge difference. In the new format, 34/36 teams qualify due to the success in their domestic league. For the remaining 2, at least there is a strict rule on how they are chosen.

In the ESL, at best only 5 would classify for their league's achievement (and that's doubtful).

The scums at UEFA better fulfill their promises to the club when they were scrambling to convince us to come back to their fold.

That’s so weird, I have one next to me that said she used to be my wife.
There's someone lying on my sofa in front of the telly. The telly has timed out though and I didn't hear it turn off.

Maybe that's why she's snorting like a fucking water buffalo.... Nearly time for bed, I'm nearly finished reading.
