The Telegraph set to release evidence of corruption in the Premier League withing the coming days

The appetite for a thorough investigation will depend entirely on who it affects. Like someone mentioned before, the mark halsey claims were quickly swept away.
If this has serious implications for one or two high profile clubs, it'll be shelved.
At least in Italy, when a scandal broke, they took decisive action.
I'm afraid I don't hold out much hope of a satisfactory conclusion to all this while the FA is rife with old farts in grey suits.

FFS, how many times, no names, no guessing, no cryptic clues etc etc etc.

I know its difficult to talk about this news story without them but its a legal matter, subject to court injunctions and the libel law in this country means posts on the internet naming any individual can mean legal action against the individual that posted and the site owner.

last warning guys as im not spending my day deleting posts, offenders will be thread banned and warned if necessary.

Come on, act like grown ups please.

Thread needs locking until after court case. There is enough else happening in football to discuss without this thread for now, that way no one is up for prosecution. Can always be unlocked when the legal stuff out of the way. Just my opinion.

Why is it an issue on a public forum are the hosts of the forum responsible for the content of their posters? I don't get why someone can't say i think it might be x,y and z. It is someones opinion if manager x is bent isn't it not the opinion of the website, therefore any slander/libel would be against the poster not the website?

I'm neither a lawyer or someone who can be arsed to explain for the umpteenth time today why we wont allow names or speculation.

Apologies for being so blunt but it is what it is and it isnt going to change.

LMA finally managed to typewrite a statement saying they are "Concerned" about the allegations.

Here's a handy guide: http://www.urban75.org/info/libel.html

To quote:
On the web, the writer, the web site owner and the ISP can all be sued just like the writer, the magazine and the distributor in the print field. A link could also be potentially defamatory if you are linking to defamatory material.

What court case?

Any action will be internal FA action.

Says a lot about the state of the world that there seems to be more chance of legal action against on line gossips than the actual criminals they are gossiping about. I'm actually starting to think the whole thing is a stunt to make fat Sam appear no worse than all the other managers. The sad truth is there are probably plenty of his type eager to snap up dogshit players for their clubs from abroad or failed rags for a personal contribution.

It doesn't make sense that the FA oversees all aspects of pro football AND amateur football. On top of that, it doesn't fully control the top level of pro football, the PL, from which all the members of the national team are selected. That's the source of all the problems. The people in the PL are raking it in and the FA picks them for the national team which is not under the banner of the PL but the FA, which represents schoolboy, amateur, pub, works football, you name it. I suppose it's what you call a dichotomy or something. Or an anomaly.Or whatever. There's a sort of logical gap in the whole set up. Worldwide I suppose. The governance ( laws even) of the pro game needs to be separated from the amateur game at the point where the players become monetised. At the lowest level, players would have to decide whether going pro is worth the loss of some freedom or other, licensing for instance. At the higher levels, players would have to think twice about losing their licence because of their behaviour on or off the pitch. The pyramid is outdated and a modern model would be two or more separate streams with the opportunity to move from one stream to another with losses of freedom offset by gains of money and vice versa. National teams would be amateur only maybe.
