The three stars

The stars were put on the badge long before UEFA / FIFA started to introduce them for a sign of winning trophies.

I am pretty sure the Italian club sides were using them, 1 star for every 10 Scudetto's won. Hence the European feel given to our badge.

In Germany it's ridiculous!
Only championships of the Bundesliga (since 1963/64) are taken into account
1 star: 3 championships (Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart, Werder Bremen)
2 stars: 5 championships (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
3 stars: 10 championships
4 stars: 20 championships (Bayern München)

Championships of the former German Democratic Republic count nothing.
And there's a club in the 2nd league (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) which has 3 stars in his emblem. But on the shirt they are not allowed to use this emblem. So they've to use an emblem without the 3 stars.

It's the age old question isn't it. Which crest suits us the best?

Love it, it's the City i remember growing up with. But it does look dated in comparison to the professionally run club we are these days and doesn't say much about the club it represents now (unfortunately). Also, to me i'll always see it as the Crest of Manchester City at Maine Road, and she's gone.

Oh boy.....i've never liked it since we adopted it, not just for the pointless 3 stars, but the eagle, the 'tacked' on M.C.F.C in the middle which looks like someone who designed it went 'ooer...it looks good, but it doesn't mention Manchester City anywhere. Oh well, shove it between the ship and the stripes, that'll do.' It's just never been a crest that says 'we are Manchester City' to me. A gimmicky crest with all the cliche boxes ticked.

My personal Ideal choice, but never going to happen. If a design could be incorporated using elements of this crest but were also uniquely City would be the perfect badge for this club IMO.

The past, the present, the future. Or each star represents 2 goals we scored at the swamp EASY EASY EASY!

Right, I'll probably get accused of being a Rag on a fishing trip here, but its a serious question!
Now i know that when our badge was re-designed back in the 90's, the three 'decorative stars' above were added to give the badge a more 'european feel', but in recent years stars above the badge has come to represent the number of times a club has been crowned european champions.
We're not the only club to have them for decorative reasons and some clubs who have won the european cup don't bother with them so i suppose its a matter of taste really!
Now if we continue to make progress at the rate we are at the moment then its not beyond possibility that we could actualy win the champs league ourselves in the not too distant future!
So here's my question, if we were to win it, what would we do with the stars above our badge?

Would we...
A, Remove two of them?
B, Add another above the three?
C, Leave it as it is?

Any thoughts?
My thoughts is that the whole badge needs addressing. The three stars are a load of shit. "purely decorative", so basically no need for them whatsoever.

The eagle was given to the city after the Munich air disaster by the Queen. United wore it in the FA Cup final that year.

Why we have it on our badge is beyond me.

And the Latin shit translates to something like "too much arrogant pride in battle".

The shield is prefect!
