I think when City fans denigrate Liverpool on the pitch they also unintentionally do the same to this incredible City squad. They are two amazing groups of players and probably the first time since WW2 that England has the two best teams in the world. It’s like when some posters said Liverpool ‘bottled it’ in 2019 - which looking at their results in the second half of the season was a preposterous thing to say and served to undermine what an incredible achievement winning that title was.

It’s going to be horrible if they win the league, but that’s what makes each game carry so much weight. I’m pretty philosophical if they do. The nature of our title wins in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019, and the law of averages, means we are due one in reverse at some point - I just hope it’s not this season!

It would be so much duller if every season was a procession. Still in the extant tournaments at Easter; every game a big game; every game a ‘must win’; the eyes of the footballing world upon us - and the rags are still wank.

This is what it’s all about!
Agree with every part of this, I don't see the point of talking down your rivals when they are objectively very good and make your achievements look shinier.

And yes, the more close title run-ins you have the more chances you have to lose them. Just praying it's not this one, and it's to a Chelsea or Arsenal team in 5 years, and not this season or, even worse, a United team.

As for the season, I'd be very happy with one of the big two, thrilled with one of the big two + a cup, and ecstatic with both the league and CL. Every game feels massive, though, it's taking over my brain space!

We had our reverse in the 76/77 season.

Be careful what you ask for. I remember rag mates of mine wanting a closer run in when they were in their pomp and that didn’t go too well in the end. I would rather be running away with the league every season ( heart reasons of course).

After our terrible loss at Derby we were always second best. Winning at Coventry on the last day want enough but even had the dippers lost that day they had a winnable game in hand so no one went expecting to win the title. Went to every game home and away at the end of that season, now an old man looking forward to watching the match from my armchair.

that Dave Watson back headed own goal when we played them at Maine Road didn't help matters. Didn't they finish something like 56 points with us just one behind? As I recall, we lost 8 games to their 9 but we drew more.

The league is in our hands, it's up to us to take it.

We have seven cup finals.

I think this talk about every game being a final puts unnecessary pressure on us. Klopp's approach is better, he says the run-in will be fun. Everybody knows that every game is important, no need to go over the top. It's likely that both teams will drop points, so it's not guaranteed that a draw/loss in some game will be punished.

I’d be happy to lose every game if you guarantee us the champs league! because we all know the champs league trumps any two Bob domestic treble.

Hate to bring doomer energy, but got a growing feeling we're winning nout lol. Hopefully it's just the pessimism talking.

I don't quite trust this team the way I've trusted other guardiola sides, there's definitely holes and I feel like a trash summer is finally coming home to roost.
