Agree with every part of this, I don't see the point of talking down your rivals when they are objectively very good and make your achievements look shinier.I think when City fans denigrate Liverpool on the pitch they also unintentionally do the same to this incredible City squad. They are two amazing groups of players and probably the first time since WW2 that England has the two best teams in the world. It’s like when some posters said Liverpool ‘bottled it’ in 2019 - which looking at their results in the second half of the season was a preposterous thing to say and served to undermine what an incredible achievement winning that title was.
It’s going to be horrible if they win the league, but that’s what makes each game carry so much weight. I’m pretty philosophical if they do. The nature of our title wins in 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019, and the law of averages, means we are due one in reverse at some point - I just hope it’s not this season!
It would be so much duller if every season was a procession. Still in the extant tournaments at Easter; every game a big game; every game a ‘must win’; the eyes of the footballing world upon us - and the rags are still wank.
This is what it’s all about!
And yes, the more close title run-ins you have the more chances you have to lose them. Just praying it's not this one, and it's to a Chelsea or Arsenal team in 5 years, and not this season or, even worse, a United team.
As for the season, I'd be very happy with one of the big two, thrilled with one of the big two + a cup, and ecstatic with both the league and CL. Every game feels massive, though, it's taking over my brain space!
