Looking at games where points may be dropped is something that can end up with you looking silly. Not many people would have thought the dippers would fail to win at home against Brighton or that Leicester would keep one of their very rare clean sheets this season against them. And I think most would have thought we'd get three points at Southampton. Slip-ups can happen when you least expect them so it's essential we keep focused and a surprise result elsewhere is a nice bonus.
Another Leicester clean sheet tonight is probably too much to ask for but stranger things have happened.....

I'm looking at it from the point of view that if we lose one game we'll only be 3 points ahead and still to play them.

So technically one loss and it's back in Liverpool's hands... hope that restores your twitchiness!

It still wouldn't be in their hands as we may still have the goal difference before we played each other.

This Liverpool team are way off the level, especially with Champs League and League Cup final to factor in around the fixtures.

It’s like scoreboard pressure in cricket
If we keep winning they have to win just to stay within 6 points of us
That’s not easy

After the next 4/5 games I expect the gap to be 4/5 points. Liverpool’s position is not that bad, despite the media conceding the title, not many on here would agree.

Can city hold their nerve? History tells us yes.
The Manager & Players have the experience to see it through. My only slight concern is goals. We need Foden & Grealish to start chipping in.

We've done brilliantly to get points on the board and keep the pressure on. Unfortunately Liverpool are also quite good at racking up wins so I assume the gap will actually be 6pts. That's a great position to be in, in February, but many of us will remain twitchy, whatever the circumstances.

Liverpool's february is piss easy, though traditionally they do struggle against Burnley but yeah would expect max points from them. March will be the month to break their back if we can maintain the lead through this month.

The ever so prescient 538 had City and Liverpool at 92 and 84 points, before and after the Leicester match. So nothing changed.

Need to keep eye on goal difference too. No slacking when we have teams by the throat.

I personally think that all the teams below Chelsea are average to poor and that’s why both us and the dippers keep beating them. We need to have off days to lose/draw.

There are some tricky games to come though where they could happen for both sides.

10 wins 2 draws 2 defeats =92pts also if we beat Scouse they would need to win all 14 games they have left.
The 538 sees the league campaign as one of attrition for City and them. Yet, both are winning handily. Even during the lowest stretches of the previous season, it had City only a point or two behind Liverpool, so their modeling must not be too terrible. As Guardiola and the City players keep saying, all those but the next match matter little.

Are all the teams poor, or is there generally more quality in the league over the past 5-6 year, and Us/Them are just that much better? I feel like the eye test tells me the latter, but I wouldn't disagree with a veteran!

I'm still quite relaxed. They have a better squad, but a lot of games to catch up on and it can take its toll. We need to have a drop off in form and they need to put a run together. Based on the last few seasons both of those scenarios are quite unlikely to happen at the same time. They've had two great seasons and still only managed to win the title once.

But we've come back from bigger gaps before, so it is possible and you know they'll be focussed on taking all three points at our place the way we were when we played them in that January to peg them back. Overall unless something amazing happens they don't seem the same cohesive defensively robust unit they once were. Cardiff's goal was very easy and a lot of teams have cut them open like that this season - Leicester being one.
They have a better squad? They have a strong squad, but not better imo.

Feels like a title race.

Not sure I can do one like the last time.

That was super intense.

Feel the next one to drop points will be huge, both teams capable of beating everyone.
