You'd have taken a nil nil draw over a Southampton win? What?

All we're asking is for an explantion of why a 0-0 draw for Soton would have been better than a win for them tonight (from City's point of view). You're the only one who seems to think it makes any sense.

I never said it would have been better, but that I wanted one.

0-0s at this stage of the season are soul destroying, frustrate the crowds, dent belief, tire players and mentally drain them. I wanted them to feel that. 1 point of a difference between a scoring outright loss, and no goal draw isn't much mathematically. And I have enough faith in our team to do the business whether Arsenal would have dropped 2 points or 3. With some teams a loss can also sometimes lead to a regroup bounce, a draw when dropping points successively prolongs the pressure.

All that said, as soon as Southampton went 1-0 up in the first minute I wanted them to win it, and was disappointed with the draw in the end and the way it came. But would have bit your hand off at it before the game.

Over to us now, to do our bit.

Our end of season is quite hard, so would be great to not *have* to win on the last day (for once !)

But for that, we probably still need to beat Arsenal. Even a draw, and hope will return for them, because 5 points ahead having played 2 games more is hardly a "give up" position.

It's over, we will beat them Wednesday like we did away.
We have then Fulham, WH, Leeds
They have Chelsea, Toon, Brighton
And if any of our players want to celebrate Arsenal not winning this evening so they should.
Wouldn't you? I would and am and I don't play for City.

The thing being suggested is that Arsenal are fucked. They look beaten. If we beat them on Wednesday they will continue to drop points. And it’s hard to argue with that suggestion watching them the last few games. While they’ve scraped a point tonight they’ve also thrown away 2 points in their last 2 games before that. They are mentally weak and it’s showing at squeaky arse time
Three points from nine, win Wednesday and hopefully that knocks the fight out of them.

Bit of a gutter that they didn’t lose but also glad they didn’t win from there which they easily could have done!

I don’t think a point makes a huge difference anyway and would have snapped your hand off for that before the game.

They have got some fight I’ll give them that but they are shipping goals now and that rarely ends well for teams chasing titles. I think if we win on Wednesday it will just be a matter of when not if. If they win then it’s still all to play for.
