This is probably the optimum time to play Arsenal given their dip in form and our congested finish to the season. We have to assume that our most important players may not be needed to put in a hard 90 min shift against Sheff U and so we should have our best team well rested and firing on all cylinders next Wednesday.

Arsenal are still a very good team of course and they’re perfectly capable of getting a result but you have to think that they’ll be very trepidant about what awaits them at our place next week.

Yes, exactly this, I've always believed exactly that. They have done extremely well but I don't think they're the finished article yet, they're not ready.
With 7 games of the season to play, they can still get over 90 points, and the title is still in their hands. They deserve a bit more respect than that, and than others give them with these cliches. We are just a better team and hopefully that will show in the table soon enough.

I never said it would have been better, but that I wanted one.

0-0s at this stage of the season are soul destroying, frustrate the crowds, dent belief, tire players and mentally drain them. I wanted them to feel that. 1 point of a difference between a scoring outright loss, and no goal draw isn't much mathematically. And I have enough faith in our team to do the business whether Arsenal would have dropped 2 points or 3. With some teams a loss can also sometimes lead to a regroup bounce, a draw when dropping points successively prolongs the pressure.

All that said, as soon as Southampton went 1-0 up in the first minute I wanted them to win it, and was disappointed with the draw in the end and the way it came. But would have bit your hand off at it before the game.

Over to us now, to do our bit.
You said "would absolutely love a 0-0 draw. Would take that over any other draw, arguably even over a both sides scoring Southampton win".

To me that suggest that if you'd take it over a win you think it's better...that's why we're confused.

I sort of get your train of thought, but I don't think a defeat would have been perceived as better than a draw by Arsenal, having already dropped 4 points in the previous two. I've always believed they'll flounder anyway and I think they're bottling it a lot earlier than I would have expected.

Thanks for the explanation.

Sorry but I stick with what I said - "they have done extremely well but they're not ready". They could get over 90 points but I don't think they will and I never have. If they prove me wrong then fair enough, but I don't think stating that they have done extremely well is showing them any disrespect.

Reading these threads, do some actually see what's going on? on the ground?
Do they go the games or just sit back from afar and post on here like they are experts?

If they saw live where we are? they would get it.

Wembleyyyyyy tomorrow

It’s turned from a must win for us on Wednesday to a must win for Arsenal. That’s got to be helpful for our chances.
Yeah, the momentum has swung significantly in our favour. Always fancied us to beat them at The Etihad anyway, but the fact that the onus is now on them to win on Wednesday surely plays into our hands.

It’s still going to be very very tough for us. We play them at home. I fear when we have to go to Brighton away as pep as alluded to that Theyvare the best team of the moment. Brighton
Yes Brighton will be tough. I really now feel we will win this now. My biggest fear is an injury to Rodri. Phillips being nowhere near good enough and then were down to playing someone out of position.
Rodri is vital to CL and Prem imo.
