My gut tells me Arsenal will be the one pushing us as weird as that sounds. I'm not counting Chelsea out either.

Well it’s safe to say Liverpool won’t be hitting the same standards as last season. They’ll be lucky to get top 4.

Arsenal could well finish second. We should be winning the league by 10+ points bar a complete meltdown.
when have we ever run away with it? as soon as we pull ahead we start losing and drawing games left and right, just the way this club does things.

I won't believe any team outside of Klopp's Liverpool or Pep's City can comfortably get 90+ points until I see it. Doesn't look Liverpool will be on current form. So either we need to be way below that or someone will have to prove me wrong, but it's a big, big, big fucking ask.

I am not completely ruling out Spurs. Conte has won it with Chelsea in Pep's first season in charge.

No european football helped them that season.
A little bit but still not an easy achievement being new to the league gand winning the league; and Conte is an experienced coach. Spurs does have depth in their squad.

If they slip up again before we do they’ll need to be near perfect to catch us imo. Can’t at all see Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs troubling us over 38 games.

I’ll be more than happy if we go into that game at Anfield with a 5 point lead intact

Too many variables this season, hard or even impossible to predict things.

It would be premature to write Liverpool off. Their start reminds me of our 20/21 season when we had many injuries and dropped a lot of points in the first 15 games. People were getting impatient with Pep and were pessimistic about the season, especially after the consecutive draws with United and WBA. Then we won 21 games in a row....

If Liverpool get going, they can win many games in a row too. It's not clear how deep their problems are. Are the injuries due to playing too many (difficult) games last season or rather due to having their most intensive pre-season under Klopp (according to Milner)? If it's the latter, then they may have more in the tank later in the season than most teams. So, it's too early to tell and predict. 78 pts may be enough to win the title. Or 85 or 90...My guess is that 83-85 pts will be enough, and we are likely to get 88-90.

Shouldn't confuse how many we will get, with how many will be needed... which was the question.

I don't think any other team will get more than 89. So 85-89 is the answer. But I think we'll get low 90's (I think it's going to be tougher this year overall).
