People thinking we’re going to walk the league after six games are nutters.

We were without four of our very best players today, granted… arguably our four best! But you have to say that we looked awful without them (as we did in midweek).

Neither Arsenal nor Liverpool have played that poorly this season.
Yup
Scousers look a lot better than last year.....
Arsenal similar to last year

We look worse but it would be hard to be better.....but the drop off is big

Has this result been coming ? 6 wins on the bounce against moderate opposition in which we’ve not really got anywhere near the levels of last season is a start that’s possibly flattered us.

Regardless, with our propensity to tailor our pre season towards peaking in April and May and starting relatively slowly I think anyone sensible would’ve happily shaken on 18 points out of 21 particularly given the injuries to key players and the inevitable post treble slump in mentality.

Nothing has really changed from last season. We had dropped a few points earlier on in that season and we weren't fully clicking. Not ideal dropping points against a poor Wolves team . We weren't great but other factors have played its part in that.

Yes, there's much truth in this post. Rodri, KDB, Bernardo and Stones are colossal losses. The first one is the most annoying because it was entirely preventable.

Still, if Spurs get something today then we can look ahead and say we're top of the league with 31 games left. What's happened has happened.

aint gonna be walking anything, but nobody else will. will be brutal hard season mostly as we decided to take different approach in the market now, rather than add to the triple winning squad we mainly replaced outgoings and lets be honest Doku has lots of potential he wont deliver imo Mahrez type numbers yet and neither Nunes/Kova is in the level of Gundo especially for for being a clutch players in big and tight games.
bit surprised Gvardiol is benched a lot he was the main transfer we fought all summer for, guess Pep taking the slower approach of building him in probably doesnt want Ake to start asking questions on game time after his great season.

and then KDB serious injury just created this issue we almost always have to start with Foden and Alvarez behind Haaland, which sometimes works off but sometimes doesnt look too good. not sure this is how Pep wants us to play overall, but it will take time to mould the team without KDb, Gundo etc.
(and Bernardo is injured too ffs)

we will know more as we start to have few more matches played vs top8 opponents. we will be put under more test than Wolves today, and even this was a really shit game.

on the other side we need to continue to rip apart all the lesser games like Luton, Burnley, Sheffield and the ones just above relegation zone like Everton and get the CL 1st place done asap so we dont use extra energy in CL group 5th and 6th round...

Arteta will be up for next weeks game, to pay back for last year, and get on top of us on the table too, I do hope Pep will want a serious reaction to todays game tho.

but yeah, Gundo, Rodri, KDB wont be around who would have been the starting midfield trio vs Arsenal probably under normal circumstances. will be an interesting game which we may not be able to dominate that much.

Will still win the league come May

Not really got going properly this season, and largely been without 3 of our best players no matter what anyone says.

Bernardo, Stones and Kev walk back into our team the minute they're fit. Makes me laugh when I see lineups in our 'best team if all fit' thread, and people don't pick Bernardo haha! I'd have him in the side ahead of Foden every day of the week, as I know what I'll get from him 9 times out of 10.

Arsenal and Liverpool started well also, but are yet to be hit with any major squad issues. Can almost offset our somewhat easy start with our huge injury losses. Our fully fit squad would have won every one of the games Arsenal and Liverpool have played so far.

Let's just hang in there until we get our more reliable players back.

Think today was the first League game in many, many years where we have seen a starting City midfield with neither Rodri, Bernardo, Grealish, de Bruyne, nor Stones, let alone Gundogan or Mahrez. It felt a seminal moment.
