How many points will be needed to win the league?

Unbelievable to do it yet again. We've seen Liverpool push us close and come out on top, then an Arsenal side step up to challenge and dismissed them as well. Having won a treble, having won three in a row to lose players we have and still bring in the right characters and keep that winning mentality in order to win 4 in a row is just staggering. There's a reason it had never been done before.

The moment they lost the league. ‘YES’ hahaha

This defined the difference between the two clubs perfectly. Arsenal came to City and were desperate for a point and showed exactly in that game why they finished second. We were way off that day and if arsenal had actually gone for it that day and beaten us they would be champions.

Pep always talks about the mentality of our players and how we have to take the opportunities when they come, arsenal settled for second place that day.

I thought the same. Gunners were scoring for fun and shit themselves. Parked the bus like a relegation threaten side. We weren't playing great. Big moment for arsenal to send out a message of strength. Bottled it

Despite not winning against Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool , Arsenal and Crystal Palace at HOME(been better in every match than opp.) , a trophy lifting is even more massive.

Last season it's like 15/15 points

I hope that these things will not happen next season. But that the past will be repeated. We had too many draws at home, but we showed the character of champions

Every summer I am tempted to repost some of those flapping, panicky comments which come along every single season from the clowns, usually coinciding fairly closely with the first frosts. It would be a bit if a wanker’s trick to do it to be honest because everyone makes mistakes but, fuck me, it happens every season. Year after year after year.

“Pep has been found out” is my favourite closely followed by “No plan b” and “we shouldn’t have sold <insert player>”
God knows how some will cope with the inevitable missing out on the title for once…

Seen that '17 games' graphic getting shared around a lot so thought I'd look deeper into it. This might be our lowest points total at this stage under Pep but we've actually been just as far behind the leaders in other title-winning seasons.

16/17 - 3rd on 36, 7 points off the top (finished 3rd)
17/18 - 1st on 49 points (finished 1st)
18/19 - 2nd on 44 points, 1 point off top spot (finished 1st)
19/20 - 3rd on 35 points, 14 points off top spot (finished 2nd)
20/21 - 2nd on 35 points, 2 points off top spot (finished 1st)
21/22 - 1st on 41 points (finished 1st)
22/23 - 2nd on 39 points, 5 off top spot (finished 1st)
23/24 - 4th on 34 points, 5 off top spot (N/A)

So looking at the data, in our eight seasons with Pep, we've only been 1st after 17 games on two occasions and we've come back from 5 points behind to win the league before. Unless one of Arsenal, Liverpool, or Villa suddenly goes on a run of 10 wins on the trot, we won't be far behind at any stage this season. We are fortunate that, during what looks to be an off-season for us, there's no real pace-setter or runaway leader. So we're very much still in it imo.
Keep the faith.
