we will win it with a point spare
I'm like you, an optimist, sometimes a blind one, but an optimist nevertheless.
Although it's not looking great, I haven't totally thrown in the towel and given up on the notion that we have enough of the season left to somehow turn it round.
Stranger things have happened.

Today was not a good result for Arsenal to be honest. I agree that it isn't over though for any of the contenders. I was at the game today and we didn't create a chance of note. That is why I am not bullish.
Ok I'll leave you with 1 more stat. There's been 1 football manager in PL history who scored more points in their 1st 12 games than Arne Slot. That manager?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Remember United 'were back' and would challenge City right? Then they lost 2-0 at Arsenal and the wheels came off. I think Liverpool are riding a wave currently and when they get a couple of results go against them things may get tricky. Or at least I hope so!

Fair enough.

I'm fucked off. I'm down. But I'm a fucking Manchester City fan. I can't help but think with a win or two, and some big decision making from Pep (keep Ortega in the team, drop walker FFS, drop Erl and play false nine, why fucking not?... couple of solid Jan additions) we can somehow sneak back into contention in the new year.

This lot didn't suddenly forget how to play football, and I'm damn sure Pep didn't suddenly forget how to manage. We'll be back and although we might have dug ourselves too big of a hole this season, we'll be there or thereabouts in May.

I love you're optimism but no chance this team can put a double figure winning run together. Which is probably needed to even stand a chance.

Maybe if we can do some good business in January, we'll get top 4 and can build on that in the summer.

No reason we can't win it next season with the right recruitment, because the arse and dippers aren't great teams.

Guys a few weeks ago we (Arsenal) were 5 points behind City. Since then we've gained 7 points on you because you've had a blip.

There's no reason Dippers also won't have a blip - this isn't a vintage Liverpool team that's formidable. They'll go on a poor run at some stage.

10th May 2025. Liverpool v Arsenal. From a City perspective if you can go on a run (and you have a decent fixture list from Feb onwards) that game may be the one that lets City into the hen house.

City weren't brilliant today but also you lost to 2 stupid defensive lapses that teams out of form tend to give away. We were absolute dogshit a few weeks back and giving away those kinds of goals, now we look back to ourselves. I'm not sure why City wouldn't do the same and there were moments in the 2nd half today where I thought City showed glimpses of, well, City. 2 teams putting pressure on the Dippers and they'll crack. They always do.

'We don't let this slip'......
I don’t know why you think this is in any way similar to past seasons. We are not finishing in the top 4 this season without a couple of quality signings in January.

No way we’re anywhere near the title this season.

It’s your turn to save humanity and stop the candle shaggers now.

Hear, hear. The only thing that matters now is to halt this run with a win. Then start clawing our way back up over the next few weeks and things could look a bit different.

When we've had runs of poor results in the past, or slow starts to the season, it was still most often the case that our underlying numbers and performances were good, we just weren't quite getting the results. Naturally things then click into place which is why we go on those storming runs.

That is unequivocally not the case this season. Underlying stats are poor, performances are poor, results are poor. There's nothing to click into place. This season is between you and Liverpool, with Chelsea perhaps being an outside shout.

And I say that without a hint of anger about what's happening this season. A drop off was always coming and I'm still basking in the glow of witnessing the finest side to ever play in this league.
