How many points to win the league?

Guys a few weeks ago we (Arsenal) were 5 points behind City. Since then we've gained 7 points on you because you've had a blip.

There's no reason Dippers also won't have a blip - this isn't a vintage Liverpool team that's formidable. They'll go on a poor run at some stage.

10th May 2025. Liverpool v Arsenal. From a City perspective if you can go on a run (and you have a decent fixture list from Feb onwards) that game may be the one that lets City into the hen house.

City weren't brilliant today but also you lost to 2 stupid defensive lapses that teams out of form tend to give away. We were absolute dogshit a few weeks back and giving away those kinds of goals, now we look back to ourselves. I'm not sure why City wouldn't do the same and there were moments in the 2nd half today where I thought City showed glimpses of, well, City. 2 teams putting pressure on the Dippers and they'll crack. They always do.

'We don't let this slip'......
Liverpool have beaten Bayern, Real Madrid and City comfortably in the past few weeks. They're the best team in Europe at the moment. Like all teams, they'll have a blip at some point, but it won't be a major one. It's still early though, and Arsenal are good enough for a title charge.

Bayer.

Liverpool are really good right now, but have benefitted from playing weakened Madrid and City sides. Both Madrid and City would have been big favourites in the CL and the domestic leagues if they had their stars available.

Barcelona won 4:0 at Bernabeu and 4:1 vs Bayern. They have had more impressive results, playing with some kids too.

Anyhow. It's important to be the best come April and May, when games in November and December will be a distant memory.

That said, we ain't winning the PL, and the CL would be a bit too difficult to win without Rodri. Several players have to play like the best in their positions in the world for it to happen.

I'd back previous City sides to overturn this deficit, or at least push them to the end but this seasons side are not those City sides.
It's not just us missing Rodri, injuries, fitness issues, poor form , players past their prime & poor recruitment have all caused the perfect storm.
We'll be back, it may take a couple of seasons though so be patient

Just watching the Together documentary. Following the defeat at Villa last season we had 30 points after 15 games. If we beat Forest & Palace (I know, big ask at the moment), we’re only 1 point worse off at the same point as last season.

With all the games ahead..... and international friendlies.... it s important to reach top 8 of CL and bow out of the cup.....football is burning out players these days. We need a bounce back.... our challenge is not over but most unlikely.

Fat lady sings mind.

How many points did Liverpool have or Arsenal? Thats the key indicator, we're now 11 adrift, thats not where we were at the time last year.

The Leagues gone, this Liverpool side will not lose 4 games more than us by the end of the season.
Now need to concentrate on ensuring top 4 and having a good run in the 2 x Cups and the rest of the CL campaign and keep plugging away in the vain hope the scousers implode with Salah and VVD leaving in January and Arseholes doing the usual.

FA Cup is our only realistic hope of silverware this year but I would imagine even Salford must fancy their chances against the team we have been watching lately.

May have to win all 3 remaining games for top 8. That's the real shitter of the Feyenoord debacle.

"not playing well but still top"
"not playing well but still unbeaten"
"not playing well but still second"

We are fucking 5th now and don't even deserve to be that high. Any happy clappers still defending this?
You posted that before , why are you so nasty towards people supporting the team ? No wonder you smell

Go to a game love. Part timer
Seeing as you seem to know me you would know i was at brighton when we won the title, wembley when we won the cup v villa up in manchester to see vinny off and meet more blues , due to go to a few more but covid happened

I am now house bound

Say hi to fetlocks for me

I just feel age is catching up with us and unfortunately its title is beyond us for this season. We need to get out of this bad run of form and concentrate on a new goal making top 4. Make no mistake even that’s going to be a real battle between us, and the likes of Tottenham, Villa, United and Brighton to get that 4th spot. CL qualification will be vital if we’re going to sign top players for the rebuild.

I would say (as well as confidence and belief) that Haaland not scoring might be a big part of the problem. Numerous games we have had the chance to take the lead (Not that it matters since wee give the leads up quite easily too!) and cement our lead further but miss after miss.

I am surprised to see us being the most prolific shot creators though.

But that form does hold us in good stead for the resat of the season. And no doubt lfc have had purely good luck whilst ours has been bad I would say, right from Rodri being out at the beginning of the season., Dias, Stones, Ake, Kovacic, Grealish, etc

Nonetheless it doesnt excuse City not getting decent back ups.

What on earth are you on about? We are where we are due to our current points tally. Your posts are personal, toxic and lack logic

I've been asking myself who would I prefer won the Premier League if we didn't Chelsea would be my first choice but I hate dippers and Arsenal and am slightly leaning towards the dippers due to recent Arsenal shenanigans. CTID

Good post GT. If Haaland had put some of those chances away we might not be in this mess. That chart is jaw dropping considering how poor we’ve been in defence and midfield.
