If you gave me the choice of being the sole centurions, or winning another pl/CL title, I'd choose the latter every time. Don't get me wrong; records are all very nice. And it was a fantastic achievement. But we need to look forward, not back. Not be resting on our laurels. Which we seem to have done in the last few transfer windows. We've somehow buffed our way through the last couple of seasons. But it's caught up with us now. The way we're going, we won't get much more than half that amazing total.
We’ll be back, might take us a couple of seasons

But the records we’ve broken in the last 7 years will be talked about for generations

February is a killer schedule. and dont forget there is two more games we dont see yet in February due to the CL playoff. that is only possible of course if we get top24 of 36 teams of course which is not sure given our displays. we need something against PSG and deffo we need to beat Brugge.
if we do finish in top24 we might get Real, Milan, Sporting, Lille, Benfica, Monaco, Atletico or similar in a two legged tie both to be played in February while others like Liverpool sit back sit out this round and wait for their opponent in one round later.

all these potential CL sides are levels better than Brentford. a very early CL exit might clear the schedule a bit for us but at the same time it will be Pep's worst ever CL season as a manager and for City too since the Mancini group stage exits. we are at risk of playing 10 CL games and not even getting to last 16 of those games while we needed 6 games previously to reach last 16.
Pellegrini always reached 1/16 finals same as Pep not getting to the last 16 would be very poor. just as bad if Bayern couldnt get there or Real.

we knew what we need to do in the January transfer window, due to the fuck up we did in the summer window, we had long months to fix some issues at least in terms of selecting targets, especially after seeing our horrible run from late October, its quite clear CL places are at risk if we dont manage to improve our form big time.

35 points after 21 games, an overperforming Forest is the last thing we needed but at least balanced out by big time underperforming rags, Spurs and Arsenal also dropped off and will be nowhere near their 89 points tally from last season neither us to our 91 points.
Newcastle, Chelsea, Forest, Arsenal the 4 main clubs that can stop up being in 2/3/4th places. Chelsea going through a shit patch now as well, while Newcastle did find some form recently and have no european schedule which helps them.

5th may or may not be a CL place we dont know yet.

next 5 away games in PL:
Ipswich, Arsenal, Spurs, Forest, rags

while the home games have Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle, dippers so all top half sides pretty much.

next 2 months we will be tested big time, with some more CL games and FA cup in there as well.

this is where we either save our season or we will be turned over.

Great analysis mate

I wonder how many points we will get, bearing in mind how porous our defence is. My guess is,

Ipswich A 3
Chelsea H 1
Arsenal A 1
Newcastle H 1
Liverpool H 0
Spurs A 1
Forest A 0
Brighton H 3
Leicester H 3
United A 1
Palace H 3
Everton A 1
Villa H 1
Wolves H 3
Saints A 3
Bournemouth H 3
Fulham A 1

64 points may not get us top four sadly

I think Arsenal will be second. We will finish anywhere between 3 and 6 as those places will be so close. I think our experience will see us sneak 3rd by a couple of points.

We are not getting top 4!

We are not suddenly going to turn this around even with 2/3 new players. Our squad is destroyed & other teams around us are much better right now

We need 5/6 new players & a full pre season before we get top 4 again sadly.

I think its between us, Chelsea and Forest for 4th and 5th
Hoping that 5th gets you a CL place this year.
Expect Forest to fall away, and Chelsea have been doing the same since Christmas.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle should be Top 3.

Won't happen anymore

Top four is a tough ask. Our current position is about right on our form. We are crying out for a fixed back four but looks like previous battles are catching up with us unfortunately. I think we have 9 players on over £200,000 a week which is probably unsustainable with the new financial rules. We have established ourselves as a 'top' club now so attracting top players on realistic salaries should be possible and sustainable.

If we want any chance of finishing top 4 we need to fuck the champs league off. If teams like Brentford, Everton and Crystal Palace can give us the run around, teams like Barcelona, Leverkusen, Dortmund will embarrass us!!

Without heavy investment we are years away from winning it again!!

Personally I think we are done this season. 6th to 8th is my presiction.

And to think some thought the league was back on after beating Leicester and West Ham!!

If we do not address our midfield issues before the transfer window shuts then I cannot see us being in the top 6 let alone top 4.
Bringing in 2 unproven, inexperienced defenders is not going to solve our issues with teams walking through our midfield and creating up to 20 chances a game. we were very fortunate to get 6 points from Leicester and West Ham as both cut us open time and time again and even at 2-0 last night in the 82 minute, we could have easily lost the game with the collapse similar to the Feynoord game.
We just seem to go into every game with the same players. same formation that's been proven not to work and even after resting players in the last game, our conditioning is appalling with those rested looking done after 60 minutes.

Our upcoming fixtures are absolutely grim. At this point, it seems more likely that we won’t finish in the top 4/5

Ipswich (A)
Chelsea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (H)
Tottenham (A)
Forest (A)
Brighton (H)

Let’s be real, we are going to get smashed left, right and centre in the upcoming weeks. If these fixtures go as expected, we’ll be finishing around 7th or 8th.

We also have PSG and Brugge in those fixtures and if we somehow beat Brugge, we’ll also have a 2 legged CL playoff in there…

Well the good news for you is that the bookies will be offering very generous odds on those teams to beat us

Fill your boots Trev

Ring Pep....PLEASE !!

I am hoping neither Arse, Barcodes or Villa winning tonight. we dont need Emery breathing down our necks too.
we aint consistent enough this season so we need rivals for top4 to be dropping points left , right and centre too especially in games they are expected to do well or win.

WDLLLLLW I reckon, perhaps we might be able to get a draw at arsenal they ain't up to to much recently, I think top 4 might be a bit too much for us this season though and I've accepted that tbh.
