Interesting post from our favourite Chelsea fan @Vialli98 re CL qualification ..... I think top 3 in France qualify.

I think Newcastle have the hardest run in. I can see City finishing 2nd (optimistic) or 3rd simply because we've only got Villa to play that's around us and it's a home game as well, the rest have to play at least two of the others. So we're in very good shape for the top 5 spot.
Have a look at Chelsea’s fixtures….

Newcastle are the in form team in the league IMO and they've got a game in hand.

Arsenal will be focusing on the CL and know they can't win the league.

4 points is not much of a gap in that scenario when they play each other on 18 May too.

Forest will drop some points in the next few weeks. Villa are unliucky in that they play PSG, Newcastle and City in a week, I can see them not winning any of those.

And Chelsea?

Look I get your thinking, kinda assumed that when I first read it. Still a bold one imo with Chelsea dropping that low and Newcastle overtaking Arsenal. But let's watch it all play out.

No way are the bar codes finishing second.

They've won 5 of their last 6.

They're 7 points behind Arsenal now, but have a game in hand, and they have to play each other. Win that game, and that's the gap reduced to 1 point, with five other games to play.

That's easily possible given Arsenal have won just 2 of their last 7 games, and have the Champions League to think about.

we have not won two PL games in a row since Leicester and WHU late Dec-early Jan. we have to go back to early October to win two games that didnt include at least one of the awful promoted sides.
this doesnt bode well for Everton up next which I can see end as a draw.

A win would be superb, but a draw not too bad. That would really tighten things up though depending on other results.

we beat Ipswich (away) and then Chelsea (home) consecutively in the PL, in late Jan. But yes Everton will be a tough game.

We need 4 points from the next 2 games at the very minimum 3. 8 or 9 from the last 4 should get 5th at least. I think we will squeeze in perhaps on goals scored which believe or not we are only second to the dippers.

I enjoy doing a Football Acca most weeks.
Anyone else who does this will know it’s very hard to predict five correct results in any one week.
I am sure this will apply to the five teams chasing the three CL spaces.
There will be twists and turns to come via some unexpected results.

Have you looked at what odds you would get for that as the fi al table positions, out of interest?

Newcastle are flying and have the momentum.

City the experience, the best manager and easiest fixture list.

That's why in my opinion, both us and Newcastle will make it.

Chelsea however, have too many tough fixtures added onto a Conference League campaign, and have a group of players and manager who are inexperienced.

Villa are the weakest defensively of the top 6, conceded the most, have the least amount of clean sheets as well, still have an FA Cup semi final and potential final to think about, and have a week upcoming consisting of Paris, Newcastle and City away in 7 days.

Forest have the biggest capability of falling off. Very little experience, goals are drying up, have the lowest possession in the league and have a FA Cup semi final to contend with. Also been getting away with a few results in the last month or so in my opinion.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but if we get fifth and United win the Europa League, do we miss out Champions League? Or is it then six teams that qualify?
