The Tottenham Thread 12/13

'Arry managed to turn around our form to Arsenal, and a few other bogey teams but he could never get the Utd monkey off his back.

I think with Ade presumably lacking match fitness we're always going to struggle. Against the lesser teams at home Defoe has been scoring but unfortunately think he'll be kept under control. But you never know, he knows his place in the starting XI is very much on the line and will most definitely want to impress. I thought he was terrific against you folks in the ever so depressing 3-2 loss at your place, he kept running all day and caused problems. Hopefully he can do the same tomorrow. Siggy could have a really big game tomorrow as well, he's not been quite up to the Swansea standard but he's taking time to settle in and I'm not too concerned.

More chance of me getting laid tonight.....
There's more chance of Charlize Theron sitting on my face than there is of Spuds getting anything at the shitpit. Taggart will have the ref well instructed come tomorrow evening. 2 or 3 goal win, unfortunately

Good to see you back spurspinter, noticed you've not been on in a while. Interested to know what your opinions on AVB are?

Nice to be back! Not been too active posting recently.

AVB's an odd one for me. I was happy at the appointment and still am now, but felt that with the clubs rather late moves in the transfer window it left him with a squad that was always going to struggle at the start. In an ideal world you'd like to have your playing staff together and training throughout pre season and we did the exact opposite of that. Given a relatively easygoing start we didn't really capitalise on and as a result will be needing to get results in fixtures which we wouldn't be expected to generally if we want to compete, Old Trafford tomorrow for a start.

I'm happy with our summer signings, very much so, but the timing of them wasn't the best. But with AVB there seems to be a freshness about the club, obviously the new training facilities help as well, mixed with new faces such as Vertonghen and Siggy and Dembele who could be with the club for a long time.

I don't really understand the negative press with AVB, Brendan Rodgers seems to be getting away with it fairly lightly at the moment in comparison, perhaps 'Arry's media chums feeling resentful.

I think there is a much better long term future under AVB, as long as we're patient, apart from Gallas and Dawson perhaps I think there's a lot of time for our back line to become more familiar and improve, the two Kyles, Benny, Verts Kaboul and Caulker, Striker wise work has to be done but I think our midfield if utilized correctly has a good balance also, even with Modric leaving. So yeah I feel like AVB could be with us for a while and hopefully have some success, but who knows....

Sorry my answer is fairly vague!

As expected, Slightly disappointed it was only 3-2 as the title race can come down to goal difference so AVB needs to sort it out.

Spurs beating United at Old Trafford. Unbelievable! Great performance from the team, but they ran of the legs. Walker was poor when the pressure came on from United. Yes he may have been tired, but sure he played Kagawa on and was heading all over the place. Gallas may be crazy, but he has balls and gave a fantastic performance. Dembele and Sandro might grow into a fantastic partnership. Though I worry about your lack of depth. You have a very small squad and play a very physical game.

Even with Tottenham making a habit of ruining talented Palace youngsters, hope they have a good season. Bostock would be in the England squad now had he never joined you.

Reality check, you won't be in the title race, that I can assure you, good performance though it was (1st half), you an avb were embarrassing 2nd half, try that at the etihad and we'll fecking murder you!!!!

Well done spurs!!!!!!!!

Bit dodgey second half but AVB will be a top manager and you have some gems like Moussa!

Cracking win, well done you deserve it.

NEVER FELT MORE LIKE SINGING THE BLUES!
