The Tottenham Thread 13/14 (continued)

Is Sherwood tells Adebayor he is his main striker and keeps bigging him up he will keep performing, at city he started sulking when he was dropped to the bench when we bought other strikers he doesn't like not playing or being the main striker..

The first half against spurs at the lane could and should of seen us 4 or 5 up.it was a battering 11 v 11.the points the media have highlighted that down graded our performance was the off side goal which by the way was not a free kick as rose cheated and fell to the floor knowing he lost the ball.the penalty was a penalty you can not tackle from behind like that and not concede a foul it looked blatant from the linesman angle.its only in slo mo you could argue it wasn't.the fact of it for me was we were the much better than spurs.the decisions on the night were correct adebayor threw his head at the ball and he was off side IMO and rose should of been sent off

What's funny is that if spurs didn't have AVB at the start they'd be in the title mix lol.
The only notable change is Adebayor. Sherwood played the game well by initially playing 4-4-2 to win the fans, but now has he reverted to Tottenham's best formation. Adebayor on form is simply that good. He is a perfect striker, who can do anything. At Arsenal he was taking them to the title too.
Adebayor apart Tottenham have been really poor in a lot of games, but he has popped and won them such as against us and Everton.

Really? I always thought that Adebayor was one of them striker who missed 4 good chances then scored one when he was at Arsenal. Similar to Dzeko in a way.

The most frustrating thing about him though is that physically he has all the attributes to be the complete striker. He's fast, strong, skilful, good in the air and on his day can finish. His biggest flaw is his motivation levels. With his natural skill he should have gone down as one of the PL's best strikers like Drogba. Unfortunately Adebayor only turns up when Adebayor wants to. It's no coincidence that he normally starts to perform when he is after a new contract.

8 goals from just 24 shots in the league makes Adebayor comfortably the most clinical striker in the Premier League this season. And roughly three times more clinical than Edin Dzeko.

Didn't get to watch this game today, but I heard they were absolutely wretched. Wonder if we could get Vertonghen off them (I still rate him) if they crash out again...

Spurs are gone now for a top four finish it would seem.

The only thing they have going for them is the fact they have to play all the sides above them bar City.

Only four sides can win the title now.

I don't think they'll sell to english club but who knows, he's got kompany in manchester city :p

I think yesterday it was more that norwich is playing 110% to save their manager (didn't know they love hughton so much). Anyone will have difficulty facing them. Just thfc's luck to play them at that exact time.

Thought they looked jaded, unsurprising, and, just like us when we went to Carrow Road, struggled to come to terms with a dry bobbly pitch; every pass required an extra touch. Given the ploughed field they had had in the Ukraine, one might have expected better, but it was a disjointed and lacklustre performance.

No Champions League for us next season and deservedly so. We have been truly awful to watch this season. Even when we have won it has always been with an insipid performance. We lined up with 4 central midfielders against Norwich... Sherwood really has no clue.

First off, as UTD have been even worse than us this season, I would like to apologise for allowing Liverpool to get top 4 this season. If we had played to even half of our ability this season (with the way it has panned out) then we would be easily 4th. So for all the unbearable egotism that is about to befall premier league fans everywhere from their scouse mates, Spurs should apologise ;)

Secondly, I really hope that we get LVG in in the summer. A proven winner everywhere he has been he could really inject some life and purpose into us. Also it would be great for the Premier League to have LVG in it. The back and forth in the media between him and Mourinho would be fantastic.

I have to admit I'd rather Spurs qualified than Liverpool at this point. They're already getting unbearably giddy. They've done pretty well considering they had their own AVB disaster which even knocked us out of the top 4 but the Sherwood appointment seemed naive. I wonder if they were trying to achieve their own Di Matteo effect?

Since winning the Europa next season presents another route into the CL it might make that competition more appealing, but that'll be true for everyone. They should just do away with this business of CL group losers going down though. It shouldn't be a safety net (even though it benefited us) to reward CL teams that essentially failed. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for Europa regulars to have to deal with the likes of us, Benfica, Dortmund, Atletico etc messing up their group and crashing their party.

I get the impression Spurs appear rudderless this season. A kind of lack of leadership and direction. I don't see a consistent pattern of play or a player who is trying to grab hold of games. I don't know how Spurs have such a good away record and managed to stay in touch with the top 4. I have not been convinced all season but fair enough they have had a few good results this year.

Spurs need a clearout and a manager who can transform the attitude of the club. Dare I say it but I think Mancini would be great for Spurs. Okay, he has allegedly had run-ins with players but he is a strong character who would change the culture of the club for the good.
