The Tottenham Thread 13/14 (continued)

Incredible. So that is a green light to every defender to tackle from behind in the box as long as they get the slightest touch on the ball first, irrespective of what damage they do later and where the ball is. Crazy. Don't care about the suspension much as it doesn't affect us any more, but what a precedent to set .....

Has anything been done about the stamp?

The FArce will tell us that they judge every case on its merits. Euphemistically that means they make it up as they go along. They have probably compared the kicks and elbow flicks of FatScouseGit and found Rose had no case to answer!

What about the toing and froing with Remy and the Norwich lad. Both clearly guilty. One gets off, the other doesn't. Judging the merits of each case!

The governance of football could not have been any worse off over the last hundred years had the FArce never existed.

Have to agree there mate, I think we can all accept that it was harsh but when you add up all the little things together, like coming in from behind, the holding his shirt, getting the merest touch and then proceeding to take Dzeko out (who would have still been in a position to score had he been able to remain upright) then it's a reasonable case.

Incidentally, anyone remember a good few years ago v Arsenal away when Sol Campbell got the merest touch on the ball, but absolutely wiped Robbie Fowler out (who would still have been clear through on goal) and it was deemed 'a fair tackle' ? A classic case of why this should be stopped.

He did not even touch the ball first. He hit Dzeko's back leg and tripped him well before his foot touched the ball.

Blatantly political decision by the FA, total disgrace.

He didn't get the ball first. Look at it again. As it happens, I think when an incident like that happens in the box, a penalty is sufficient punishment. The card is usually for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Well; the attacking team has been awarded a clear goalscoring opportunity with the penalty. However, the current rule dictates that a red card is given and therefore the red card was correct.

Par for the course with the FA when there's enough media pressure. Helps that he's English too.

Why do we labour on the fact he got the ball though? As if it's the be all and end all of a good tackle? You can get the ball and still foul a player, why is this idea so offensive to pundits and journalists?

Looks traumatized by the 5-1. Spurs annual meltdown comes late this season.
I thought Tottenham had the sixth best squad out of the top teams going into the season, but thought AVB would take them ahead of Rodgers. Did not predict the United collapse and have been surprised by how willing Rodgers is to change. I cannot believe that they had 100 million to spend and went into the season with the defence they had.
