I'm not too downhearted about the result, yes we lacked a bit of creativity perhaps but it's the first time in many years we've had that much possession v arsenal. I don't think arsenal could have played much better but I think we could have. As some have said once the team gels I think we'll do well, liverpool have shown with a bit of patience and decent signings you can change for the better. We still have creativity in Lennon, Townsend, Chadli, eriksen and lamela so I'm not too overly concerned and won't knee jerk over a result away at arsenal

Ive always loved Dawson but he looked out of his depth at times today.

When I see City fans getting all happy and creamy about Spuds losing away to Arsenal (another legitimate contender) I get scared. They bossed a good portion of the game. And they will eventually gel.

Walker.........Dawson.......Vertonghen......Rose
....................Paulinhno......Dembele.....................
...Lamela............Erikson...................Chadli.........
.................................Soldado..................................

At some point that 11 will gel, and they will be a handful for anyone.

This shit about 'Gelling' is used by all fans whose team has just lost. Your pre season was the time to 'Gel', the fact is your team, after around £90 million extra spend should not have lost today. There is now no time for any team, including mine, to fuck about with 'Gelling' or any other overused cliches, Spurs don't look the finished article by any means.
Sold Bale too late for that little bit extra so they did not bring in Lamela and Erikson early enough. With a team fully bedded in they may have won today. If they lose out on CL due to a couple of points again then Levy will make the same mistake next year again.

Terrible day for them. Lost the game and Capoue probably for a long time. Despite their spending, they look greatly diminished without Bale.

They need time to gel, though.

Time is needed for sure.

We are sorely missing Bale's many contributions at the moment. But, as you said, the team has not gelled by a long stretch. Our movement (especially Soldado's) in the final third is practically nonexistent. Too often today we were relying on Walker bombing up the flank and playing a speculative cross in. We looked to have something going on the left early on with Chadli and Rose working well, but (again) there was no one in the middle anticipating the ball into the box and making a run to the near post (Soldado) or making a run from midfield. Personally, I think this will come as matches accumulate and they become familiar with one another. But it sure as hell isn't there yet.

Capoue injury aside, though, I wouldn't necessarily call today "terrible". Yes, we unveiled our new signings and got beat by Arsenal's same-old, same-old. BUT, we did go to the Emirates and while I wouldn't say that we "bossed" the game, I would say that we dominated possession with 4 players in our starting lineup playing in their 1st NLD and 3rd PL games. Again, it's scoring and not conceding that secures points, so by that measure we had a pretty bad day at the office. But not one that indicates that there's nothing to build on going forward.

And in the grand scheme of things, we lost a 1-nil at the Emirates. We won't be the only club (even towards the top of the table) that walks away with nothing from there.

Yes, keep on 'Gelling,' by the end of the season you'l look like Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent.

Your last sentence speaks volumes to me, one of the most important positions on the pitch, yet one of your weakest.

Maybe Chiriches (sp?) can resolve that for you?
