How do you define world class?

As for me it's if they are in the discussion of 'who can stake a claim to being the best player in this position' of which none of those can, apart from Lloris, I think he might be one of the best keepers in the world.

Of course, there's no universally accepted definition of the term.

I tend to go for the best 5 players in any particular position, which gives around 55 to 60 World Class players at any given time.

There are 5 better dms than paulinho de rossi, de jong, toure, busquets, khedira all better and im sure someone will come back with more, soldado in the top 5 strikers i dont think so, dembele and lamela in the top 5 attacking players, well given that spots 1 and 2 are sewn up by messi and ronaldo are you saying they occupy 2 of the other 3 haha and vertonghen in the top 5 defenders in the world he struggle to make the top 10. I know we all view our own players much better and in a less objective fashion than other players but even the most fervent spurs supportets would struggle to make the case that any of those payers are top 5 players in the world in their respective positions.

But now that you happen to mention it, I think Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen would certainly be in with a good shout.

And as for Paulinho, have you forgotten he was awarded the third best player of the tournament at the recent Confederations Cup?

You think vertonghen is one of the top 5 defenders in the world REALLY, wow i know you like you're delusion but that is complete madness really marquinhos, thiago silva, kompany, hummels, varane, subotic, ramos all arguably better than him, that being said i am not saying he is not a very good player just using your definition i wouldnt out him in the top 5. Lloris i think is a great keeper but paulinho come on your using him being the third best player in a tournament no one cares about apart from the brazilians to say he is world class thats tenuous at best. Like i said most fans especially you view their players in a much less objective fashion than other teams fans but paulinho is not one of the top 5 midfielders in the world and that attempt to justify his inclusion into it is ridiculous.

And i wasnt aiming at you I used your definition of a world class player to show the other guy that his proclamation of those players being world class may be a little over the top

Come on, that isn't a good way to judge a player. According to the Confederations Cup, Paulinho is better than Busquets and Xavi, while Torres is an absolute goal machine as he won the golden boot.

Spurs dont have any world class players. The one they did have left this summer, but they has actually improved them as they aren't so reliant on one player now.

Coming from a arsenal fan , i have to say spurs have better midfield then last season but lack a star player in a bale and a top striker. Still think they have chance of top four with united not looking amazing and liverpool lacking depth

Dont even think Bale is world class tbh, brilliant player but very overrated after the half a season in 12/13.
