The reason you don't have the luxury of spendin £100 million is because your club is short-minded and signs OAP's rather than giving youngsters a chance, Spurs gave Bale the chance to carry on playing and we were loyal to him, We could have easily tried to ship him off.

After raiding Southhampton's academy for Bale, they did give him a chance. Then they spent about 18 months trying to flog him to anyone who'd take him off their hands. They couldn't get rid so they stuck with him and then he started performing.
Typical revisionist history from Spurs fans. You tried and failed to sell him. You kept with him because you didn't have a choice.

Gareth bale was never going to be loaned or sold. Levy knew too well he was a good player with his former under jol. It wasn't until Ekotto got injured to redknapp played him again then tried to take all the credit.

As for west ham they were paying higher wages than Spurs a few years ago. Modric was on half he likes of dyer and ljungberg. It's been mismanaged for years. Kumb moderators stopped anti spurs threads a few years back as it become ridiculous. They are so obsessed and irrational and it's plain to see here. Still shocked they banned bobby Moore from the stadium. I'm sure they'd be happy getting relegated knowing they beat spurs

Not at all joking. Why do you think that?

-- Mon Nov 11, 2013 7:11 pm --

As is usually the case in these type of arguments, the truth is somewhere in the middle. We did not spend 18 months trying to flog him at all. There was certainly a point where it was thought he might benefit from a loan somewhere else, and I believe there was a point when we considered trying to sell him. To the best of my knowledge, nothing was ever actioned though.

Just seems funny to call your record signing The Cock but each to their own I guess. If it was Kyle Walker I could understand it but then I guess it would be something stronger like El C*nto

Not sure if you are serious or trying to be funny. But it's not what we decided to call him. It's a nickname he's had since he played in Argentina.

Sorry I thought it was just THFC with the sense of humour by pass - I will try to be more serious in future

Nope, it's all of us I'm afraid. We have to have them removed when we apply for season tickets. For my part, I will try to interpret your attempts at humour much better, and try to remember that you're not very good at the jokes. ;-)

To be fair, in the first instance I thought you were genuinely asking if I was serious about Lamela not playing in our game.

I've never managed a ;-) out of your mate!!
So why won't Lamela be playing then?

I think AVB is trying to ease in him to the Premier League pretty slowly. He's had a few appearances but not really got up to speed yet. I actually thought he would get a run out yesterday - he played midweek in the Europa and finally showed signs of what he can do (he was MOTM). If the manager isn't going to pick him for one of the (supposedly) easier home games, I really can't see him throwing him in for the trip to your gaff. I could be wrong of course, but I really don't see him playing.

Spurs have 2 huge games coming up, city away then utd at home, if they lose both I think a top 4 finish will already be out of the question.

I don't think that would be true this early in any season, and definitely not in a season like this which is throwing up so many unexpected results. Even if we lose them both and everyone currently above us gets maximum points in their next two fixtures we'd only be 7 points off 4th. That's not insurmountable with 25 games to go.

More of an issue is whether we can start clicking as an attacking force. If we don't do that within the next few games then we may well have to start thinking about writing this season off.

Nice job by the Spurs medical staff - now both sides of the concussion scandal think the team physios are terrible, just for different reasons...

Agree that mathematically it would be still possible, but confidence doesn't seem to be too high there especially with the fans, I think if spurs lose the next 2 things could turn ugly, and the pressure could be too much on the players. There are more rivals than ever this season for the top 4 places, cant really drop too far behind them....About the goals, they will come I am sure, you are creating chances, might need a tactical tweak though, like playing with just 1 defensive midfielder.

Definitely feels like there's not much confidence around the place. Which is surprising in some respects and not so much in others. Not the best of times to have two tough games as 0 points from them will certainly see some dropped heads. I don't expect much at City but fancy our chances against United. Whatever happens I still don't think our season will be over, but we'll certainly need to step it from that point if we lose them both.

How AVB can rate Sigurdsson and Lennon above Lamela is beyond me. Would love to see him at City.

I don't necessarily think he does really. I think he's just being cautious (perhaps overly) and easing him into English football gently. I'm sure he'll be a regular long before the season is out.

I think the way the league is shaping up anybody in the top 8 could get beat 7 or 8 times and still win the league....
I'm loving the way the season is going, teams beating teams they shouldn't be,even if spurs get beat by us and the woodworms they won't be out of it as everybody up there isn't showing any great form...
Lots of twists and turns this season...

Fabulous isn't it. I'm really enjoying this season. It helps that it's working out brilliantly for me from a business perspective too, but it's just that much more interesting than it has been for a long time.

Unless one or teams really get a grip of things, I can see there being multiple teams still in with a realistic shout of the title with only a few games to go. That would be great for the league.

Give me that scenario any day of the week...
Fuck one team having it sewn up by the middle of april, let's have 4 or 5 teams with a couple of points between them going into the last day needing a win....
Imagine the viewing figures and the publicity....wow!!!
