This will come across as my milkman's daughter's boyfriend story...however

Chelsea fan at work emailed me about Arry.

"My stepdad knows one of the guys involved with the tax evasion investigation and reckons he’s bang to rights

Apparently he’s got his own restaurant (Lorenzo’s in Bournemouth) that is only open 5 days a week and is never seen to be busy but still claims to make a SHIT LOAD of money – which they can prove isn’t through the restaurant

I don’t know the full details but from what they were saying on Saturday, he’s got no chance"

Not wanting to speculate too much, I'd imagine the evidence against him is pretty substantial for it to get this far.

Thing is, if he's found guilty will he receive a custodial sentence or will he escape prison in view of him being linked to the England job?

I know very little about taxation but why would he put the money through teh restaurant? If he is trying to avoid paying taxes then putting it through a restaurant would be a silly idea. He has to pay rates, corporation tax etc.. Hardly tax evasion.

The only explanation for pumping money through an organisation such as a restaurant would be to 'clean'/launder it. The case does not appear to make reference to laundering. That in itself would be a far more important charge than simply evasion, and would carry a significant custodial sentence too.

I have absolutely no idea whether the restaurant thing is true or not. One thing is clear, the HMRC are going for him.

What happened after his explanation that he was given a racehorse by Willie McKay as a present 'for a mate'? This is the agent who acted on behalf of Chimbonda when he was both bought, and sold a short time after, by Redknapp.

Two years left plus a clause stating that no team in the Top Four can have him for less than 20 million.

Can a clause like that really exist? Have you got a source for this info?

I think it was a joke.

haha disappointing.

There was rumours about Ba's release clause being something like that so that's why it went completely over my head...Nothing to see here...Move along....

I think it does come down to laundering but its not criminal money, unless it turns out that Arry is a drug baron, the restaurant is being used to avoid the ridiculous taxes one would have to pay on the sums of money we're talking about here by disguising it as business earnings. I don't really know the specifics of what he's meant to be doing but thats what seems to be going on. Regardless, he's in deep if he did cross HM Revenue (IRS for Americans). They take that shit more seriously than terrorism.

Does anyone know if Spuds have taken their full allocation ?? Just that someone told me that they have only got the bottom tier .

there's a site on the web that managed to get their hands on the actual documents for the trial. If they're not fakes (would be lot of effort to fake up 30 pages of documents and for what reason) it looks pretty damning, account in his name, transfer of cash from companies fronted by Mandaric. Google "Redknapp documents" and look at the answers - don't want to post the url just in case. Hmm, just had a look and the site is "unavailable" now.............

Looks bleak for him, I think if guilty a hefty fine may be the outcome. Forget football for a minute what is the point of jailing some old fella for a financial crime. He's in lumber because he's stashing cash so hurt him where it matters, take the cash back x 3, that'll hurt him I'm sure.
Prisons are overloaded as it is without shit like this.

Besides I quite like arry.
