The Tottenham Thread (Merged)

Hello folks, congratulations on the win...Can't be arsed to trawl through the thousands of pages written on the game to be honest but will attempt to summarize my feelings about the whole thing...

I'd said many times on here before the game how I hoped it would be about football and not about controversy, and it is a real shame that the latter came up. Before that point it was a terrific game of football that although I was a nervous wreck, I could actually enjoy as an example of why I love this sport.

But...

How come Nasri is complete shite except for when he plays against us?! It pisses me off to see his gormless lesbian face lapping it up, quality finish though...

Added with the wondergoal from Lescott I was a bit down on the whole thing but I'm proud of the way we came back in to it, Defoe worked his tits off today and make it a very uncomfortable day for Savic.

Call me bitter, but I'm going to have to bring it up...I generally like Balotelli, but I can't believe he has gotten away with that one...He was lucky he did it to the one player on the pitch who treats opposition with respect and does not writhe about at the slightest contact. I'm not sure what the general consensus is with that incident on here but to me there is simply no way it was an accident, the Lescott elbow is much less of a cause for annoyance with me but the Mario one just isn't cool. You folks bitch and moan about Rooney getting in these kind of digs all the time, and rightfully so, but you have to accept that you have one in your ranks doing the same.

But, in the face of refereeing adversity the team just needs to deal with it, which we didn't do. I just can't believe a player of King's experience would be so reckless, Balotelli will never miss a penalty for Man City in my opinion, may as well have let him take a shot as there would have been a much greater chance of him missing/Brad saving.

I cannot believe we didn't come away with a point today, with Chelsea Arsenal and Liverpool ballsing up the loss isn't the end of the world but a point would have made it a sweet weekend. The table still makes pretty good reading as far as I'm concerned so it isn't the end of the world, but can't help feeling disappointed.

Hope we can take out the frustration of the game today out on Wigan...

I can understand why you're pissed off and personally I think it was a stamp, although there are many on here that don't. I will say that Parker committed enough yellow card offences to have been sent off before the Balo incident imo. I can see both Balo and Lescott getting banned retrospectively. Lescott will be the biggest loss, because Savic is clearly not ready. If it wasn't for his gaff, you wouldn't have got back in the game.
I must say that 'arry's post match interview was a disgrace. My hatred of this man grows daily.
Fair play for coming on and good luck with finishing above Arsenal.

Yep, you're certainly bitter.

That player shouldn't have even been on the pitch himself as he'd clocked up at least three yellow card offences by that point and was given free reign to go around kicking everything in sight.

You're supposed to be the team that plays the beautiful game, but all I saw was booting the opposition and booting long balls up to the lone striker.

And now when your clogging routine backfires you do what Arsenal did and go running to the FA to get your target man banned in the desperate hope it'll derail us so you can finish above us.

It didn't work for Arsenal and it won't work for you.

Concensus is he is a dumb shite for doing it and if he gets done for it then fair enough.

My view is he needs to cut that shit out now or fuck of, i hate such acts.

Indeed a cruel way to lose a match bud, grab a beer chill out and wait for simpsons to get released :)

Cheers man :)

I'm not too down on the whole thing though to be honest, I guess there's always the wondering what would have happened if Defoe had been a couple of inches further forward (or if the pass from bale was better to be fair) but there's no point now. Looking at the table everything is still pretty good so hopefully things will stay that way...Bar the Balotelli incident it was a great game to watch, so very painful, yet a great example of why I love football.

I'm not so sure about the Lescott one, obviously the slowed down gif makes it look pretty horrendous but I think it's a momentum thing, I have done that in the past accidently and had it done to me accidentaly as well, a ban would be harsh.

I think it is always harsh on the manager of the losing side to be dragged out to do a post match interview when clearly he didn't want to be doing it. Mancini has at times got over emotional during post match interviews and has said things he perhaps didn't fully mean but they are given little time to properly reflect and calm down after the game. The shot at Mario was perhaps a bit harsh and I doubt he'd give the same answer if asked the same question now, but if I'm honest I didn't think anything else he said was particularly bad.

Re the Parker fouls which you and Puskas (who I sincerly won't bother replying to) are referring to, I think I'd need to watch the whole game again because upon first viewing I honestly didn't get that impression

Can I just say to spurs fans and other fans generally.

stop going round like Balotelli does it all the time/isn't his first offence, I can't remember him ever being violent/stamping in any way shape or form so to tarnish him with the Rooney brush is quite frankly ridiculous.

Yes he should have been sent off, but Tottenham got the reffing payback for what happened to us v Chelsea, United and Liverpool, im sorry it had to be that way, i'd rather all 4 had been called correctly.

Balotelli will get banned, I desperately hope that's enough justice and that Lescott, who I haven't seen, gets swept under the carpet.

I also think you lot going round saying you can't believe you didn't draw/win, true, but only from the position Savic let you into the game. If he wasn't there and hadn't cocked up, we'd have continued to beat you comfortably for the rest of the game.

Today proved we're better than you conclusively, however Balo and Savic have made sure we don't get the credit for it.

shame.

I don't think they're referring to stamping specifically, more so his acts of petulance which stamping comes under, and even the most ardent disciple of Mario can't deny there are many. Off the top of my head:
Sent off vs Liverpool after an (alleged) elbow [contentious]
Sent off vs West Brom [definite]
Sent off vs Kyiv [definite]
Backheel in pre-season [stupid]

He has previous. But this should not be the reason fans use to justify a sending off.

Fact is city fans are generally positive about spurs being in the top places rather than the status quo,but the pro spurs media annoy the hell outta me.
Acting like spurs play better football than us when they clearly don't.

Modric did nothing.van der vaart went AWOL until subbed.walker shown up big time.

Bale had a great second half and Defoe is a great poacher.it was a great game.

But honestly we outperformed spurs for most of the game.our class showed.

But tomorrow we'll hear nothing of silvas sublime pass and nasri's awesome finish,or Richards dominating performance.

No it will be poor Harry this and evil balo that.

Redknapp was disgraceful post game.

Let's see if spurs make that effort against the rags because I doubt it.

Modric pushes him which throws him off balance.

And Balo doesn't even touch him. If it was ANYONE else we're not even discussing it. Get over it. Better team won.

The thing about the stamp was how unnatural it was. The shin to the head prior to that was obviously accidental but you can't explain a full force stamp towards Parkers head with studs away with balance corrections. He'll surely get banned for it. If someone takes a stud to the temple with the force Balo threw down there, we'd have an on field fatality. Form a fist and tap your temple gently with your knuckles and imagine taking a punch there, let alone studs.

It was a strange game to watch. Spurs were never in it util Savic did something absolutely ridiculous. Then a goal from nowhere. If you had drawn or lost it would have been well against the run of play. Spurs looked so inept up front without Adebayor. Remind me again why you thought it'd be a good idea to loan him to them? :P

In Italy, brushing ones stud over another's temple is a friendly gesture. I'm sure once mario is made aware that in this country it is seen as quite rude, he won't do it again.

The main issue I had with the Balotelli/Parker situation is that we once more see double standards for the FA. Three weeks back we had Barry sent off in a crucial league tie v Liverpool for persistant fouling. I must have watched Parker foul our lot well in excess of 10+ times. If Barry's was a red why wasn't Parker's. (I'd like to point out I don't think Barry or Parker should be sent off for them I just think it's bloody double standards yet again)

Bit rich coming from a chelsea fan that after lampard nearly cut a wolves player in half with a challenge which he should have gone for and meant. An on field fatality do me a favour m8 at wolves on saturday petrov nearly kicked frimpongs head off and he is fine.

Never once defended Lampards challenge (which incidentally isn't as bad as stamping on a head). I'm not on the pitch making decisions. If you think stamping on someones head is acceptable (or not dangerous) then I'm not even going to argue.
