The Treble

Have I missed the sky and BBC documentary about our treble ?
It'll arrive next year, 2x 5min cobbled together pieces, sandwiched by 3x 1hour celebrations of the 25th anniversary of 1999 treble. So if you can hang on, I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for...

I'll predict one thing you won't miss in December..

..when the BBC 'Sports Review of the Year' moves on to the 'Team of the Year" award, treble-winning City won't get a look in if the England Netball team* goes on to win the World Cup, having just beaten New Zealand in the semi-final.

Just as in 2018, City's 'Centurions'/League Cup winners were pipped to the award by the England netball team, which rode its luck to beat Australia in the Commonwealth Games final.

(* Btw, good luck and fair play to the 'Roses'.. I just watched them win and they did extremely well to beat NZ. I hope they win the final, of course and win the trophy for what would be an historic first time.

However, comparing a potential victory in a knockout tournament lasting 3-4 weeks with a 10 month season which included a World Cup to which City provided the greatest number of players from any single club and which ended with winning the three greatest prizes in club football.. well, I don't quite think that's a fair estimation of relative achievements.

Even now, I can hear Gary Lineker sharpening his pencil to write his introductory link to the winning coach and captain of the Roses squad before they step up to accept the team award..)

Hey ho! That's just the way it is, I suppose..

The noise was incredible, we were well up for it that day, the rags thought they’d turn up in their crap hats & out sing us comfortably, never heard a peep out of em all day. The lads behind the goal did a great job getting the songs going & those down the sides joined in to perfection, there was pure cohesion for once instead of little pockets of singers, that came from the momentum built up over a season, new songs, amazing displays and a desire to turn over the rags Arse & Madrid. We’ve got a choice now, do we dine out on our treble too much, or do we go again ? The momentum we built last season started early doors in games like Palace & Fulham and took off in the aways, what helped was those fans who built the support at the away games, then brought it home
As underdogs I thought the rags fans would have been up for it like we have done in the past...NO Fucking shit support from the zebra pants...

It will go to the England women team if they reach the WC semi final.

I was fortunate enough to be there. What a great day. Put the upstarts in their place. This was their end at full time, BEFORE their team had gone up for their medals....

Great supporters, eh?

To be honest, I was there on that day and I'm not sure I would have hung around watching our hated rivals lifting the FA Cup.

I saw this and have watched it 599202 times, but this morning it hit me for the first time the reality of our noise In the end at Wembley even though I was there.

It also dawned on me we haven’t got a thread for us purely winning the treble, videos of songs, celebrating etc etc. So hopefully this is the start

That noise is glorious.

There used to be a similar clip of the Aguero goal knocking about and the noise on that pats this one on the head.

Istanbul was nervy I thought. So much on the line. Wembley was fantastic. One of our best days that.

I think it was fatigue more than anything. Being stuck on those coaches for hours, dehydration unable to access food, sobering up in the ground all added to it.

I consider myself a vocal and energetic individual but by kick off time I was completely drained.
