The TV Quiz Show Thread

Perhaps I posed the question incorrectly and it should have been "in total"
I think they may have classed double faults as eight strikes of the ball, but I'm certain in tennis if you attempt to hit the ball on a serve but miss it, it is classed as a fault, so zero would still be correct
However, the contestant answered 8 (serve and a winning return) and it was correct
The next day they said they'd made an error and the answer should have been 4 ( 4 aces) but they allowed the contestant to keep the money he'd won
Twat the ball at the opponents head he retires injured you win in one shot, or you get disqualified and your opponent wins after one shot

What about when the correct answer isn't correct!

On a Who wants to be a millionaire a question was
In tennis, what is the least number of shots possible for a game to be won?
4
8
16
24
Surely the question was the least number of points to win a game?

That would be 4, irrelevant of how many shots were played.

15-0, 30-0, 40-0, game.

Also 4 first serve aces would do the same, so that would be 4 shots to win the game.

The question was definitley asked about the lowest total number of shots in a game for someone to win

Also.... whilst on the subject of tennis.....
Why does the score go 15....30....40?
Surely it should be 45?
The origins of the 15, 30, and 40 scores are believed to be medieval French. It is possible that a clock face was used on court, with a quarter move of the hand to indicate a score of 15, 30, and 45. When the hand moved to 60, the game was over. However, in order to ensure that the game could not be won by a one-point difference in players' scores, the idea of "deuce" was introduced. To make the score stay within the "60" ticks on the clock face, the 45 was changed to 40.

Therefore, if both players have 40, the first player to score receives ten and that moves the clock to 50. If the player scores a second time before the opponent is able to score, they are awarded another ten and the clock moves to 60. The 60 signifies the end of the game. However, if a player fails to score twice in a row, then the clock would move back to 40 to establish another "deuce".
