So does that mean it's in the City of Manchester ? Because on my map it's in the borough of Trafford and part of Greater Manchester. Not in the City of Manchester !
It’s not in the Metropolitan Borough of Manchester. But, really, as the world looks at us as a city, it’s “Manchester”.

Trafford’s businesses count towards Manchester’s GDP. The two boroughs are inseparable really. As is a lot of this conurbation. Manchester wouldn’t be what it is in the World City Index without Trafford and other boroughs.

Almost all of London isn’t in London, but we still call it all London. Manchester is very much like London (and Stoke is the same n’all). It’s outgrown its boundaries and is a metropolis of towns and villages within it that might fall under other boundaries but are part of the city’s conurbation.

Looking at a map (especially an urban plan one where you can see the continuation of urban areas that melt into each other across the boundaries), I’d say that Oldham Tameside Stockport Manchester Trafford and Salford are all part of the Manchester metropolis. I think Bury and Bolton fall just outside this, and I certainly don’t think Rochdale and Wigan are part of it, despite all four being in the county of Greater Manchester.

What City is the Trafford Hospital ?

Answer Manchester

I get confused its clearly in Trafford how is it in Manchester when Manchester isnt in Trafford ?
It's the RDAHMeedya - anything that mentions Trafford has to be in Manchester. it's just ignorance, impure and simple. The Chase did the same thing a few months back with 'What is the name of the 76000 seat stadium in Manchester'? I would have loved to have been answering 'cos I'd have said 'There isn't one, Brad. The 76000 seater stadium known by Mancunians as The Swamp is in the once pretty borough of Trafford, which is, er, in Trafford, and not Manchester'!

I reckon it’s because they’ve actually never been part of Manchester. Whereas going back over the centuries Manchester was very different to its current borough borders.

Around the 1500s, Manchester had it’s own “Parish” (rather than Borough) as part of the Salford Hundred. Although, Salford was actually part of the Parish of Manchester, as well as being the named town of the Hundred.

And Stretford was part of that, with the de Trafford family owning the land into parts of Chorlton cum Hardy, Whaley Range, Moss Side and Withington. They could easily have been part of Trafford when borders were drawn up centuries later just going off the land the de Trafford’s owned. Or, all of de Trafford’s land could have been incorporated into what became Manchester, since some of it did and since other previously non-Manchester land South of the Mersey became Manchester.

Q= which football team was the first to win the English domestic treble

A= arsenal lol

Even Brady Walsh didnt know ! He thought the dippers. The chaser knew it was City

It's been well and truly hidden up, just goes to show how little recognition City got.

B-b-but they are an institution dont you know, and the dippers "the peoples team".

I said to the mrs that he would get it wrong, if it was a red team it would not be a question.

Its not his fault that an achievement like this just three seasons ago isnt still fresh in his mind from constant exposure across the tv networks, as you say, brushed and hushed.......job done.

Dissapointing, and shows what we are up against in terms of recognition from the media.

It should have been the only team to have won the domestic treble
