The TV Quiz Show Thread

This is not from a quiz show but along those lines. I was clearing some junk out this morning and found an old quiz sheet from a 2002/03 holiday. I remembered that we had teamed up with this couple for the quiz and during a break in the questions the woman randomly said, "I think this terrorism thing could be over pretty quickly. I have a theory that Al Queda is actually an American. If I'm right the FBI will probably pick him up as he goes through customs. After all Al is sometimes short for Alan in America."
She actually believed that a man called Alan Queda could be stopped and arrested as he checked in at JFK airport.
The look on her husband's face during her little explaination was priceless.

Lightning, a few weeks ago. Zoe asks "What long-running quiz show blah blah blah, and hosted by Jack Dee. I'm sorry, I haven't a ...?"

The contestant could have gained quiz show immortality by answering "I'm sorry, I haven't a clue". Instead, they just said "pass".

The American woman on Lightning this week must be one of the worst contestants on any quiz show ever.

Twice this week she’s had 2 minutes of questions fired at her and didn’t get any right.

I always amazed on The Chase how many people say "pass", when there's no advantage in doing so. It's not like Mastermind where the quizmaster moves on, Bradley Walsh always says the answer. I was watching a re-run of an old Chase a few weeks ago and the team in the final scored 16. They'd have scored 21 if they'd have just guessed the most obvious and likely answer to five other questions instead of passing. One was along the lines of "In which French city is (some obscure building /landmark) ? ". They passed and of course the answer was Paris.

Thick tw@t on Tipping point today… he was thick.
Which famous ‘Movie Composer’ won awards for The Lion King, Inception & Gladiator (I think)….
Answer: Rhianna
