The unpopular objective thread

I’ve actually been a bit underwhelmed by Jesus so far. Don’t get me wrong, he works very hard and is clearly a talented player, but almost all of his goals have been tap-ins. Has he actually scored a ‘great’ goal in the year he’s been here?

Probably the biggest one...

I think we as a fanbase need to have far more faith in Pep. He was questioned for going into the Spurs game without Silva and we won comfortably. He was questioned for putting Mangala on in the derby and that was a huge part of the reason we won. He was questioned when we went behind against West Ham, against Bristol, against Huddersfield, against Burnley, against Bournemouth... and yet we keep winning. Now he wants to sign Jonny Evans and people think he's crazy. It baffles me. Guardiola is the best manager in the world and I think we should be happy to enjoy the ride and trust him.

Good post but JFE ? seriously ? remember he's scum reject.

Quality comment mate.. made me laugh!!!!
How anyone would like to see the dippers win the league is beyond me ? They have despicable fans.
Actually I suppose this is appropriate for this thread.... I think the Scousers are worse than the rags.

  • The Abu Dhabi regime's human rights record is a stain on the club despite the mental gymnastics people do to distance the two.
  • Vincent Kompany has never been a good captain for us and instead added to the nervous energy that permeates the ground when we're under the kosh.
  • Our Academy is nothing more than a PR campaign because it doesn't produce players for our first team squad - whatever the reasons for that, and the "but it's new!" excuse is a very poor one.
  • Jim Cassell and many others were prematurely abandoned because they didn't visually look like the type of person we wanted at the club despite vast knowledge and experience.
  • The club doesn't give a shit about us as fans but more importantly, it never did either.
  • For all of the apparent greatness we have, this team falls apart without David Silva and there's nobody in world football who can replace him. And now he's 32.
  • Yaya will be remembered with rose tinted glasses as his terrible and lazy performances are forgotten but he doesn't give a shit about City and never has past how much we're paying him - although he'll act the part post-retirement hoping to land a cushy job somewhere and we'll call him a "Legend" in the same way that you "love" your ex-wife or ex-husband.
  • I like New York City FC and think the CFG is a nice concept that makes me interested in other leagues and have a "home team" somewhat to follow. I don't give a shit about the rest of the stuff, it just makes me watch more football with an interest.
  • Our shirts are terrible and have been since Umbro who we never should have moved on from (forcibly so, admittedly).
  • We ARE the best team in Premier League history and it's not even a close competition, no matter what happens in the leagues and CL. Nobody has ever played anything like what we're playing and it's showing a lot of Little Englanders that their precious Premier League is all marketing and no different from any other league in the world.
  • A fan who watches the matches on TV in Nigeria is just as big and important a fan as you are and this "but I'm a local fan" stuff is small time bollocks.
  • Raheem Sterling is constantly criticised because he's black.
  • Txiki Begiristain was one of the best post-takeover signings we've ever made and 95% of the people who criticise him don't even know what it is that he does and are doing it as a meme.
  • People in the Transfer Forum rate players primarily on Football Manager, FIFA and things they've heard other people say. No, you haven't watched Pissbutchio playing in the Slovakian league enough to rate him comparatively to John Stones, sit down.
  • John Stones is a better defender than everybody we've had post-takeover not named Kompany or Otamendi even without his passing ability.
  • Along the same lines, Lescott is the most overrated former player we've ever had and he was Mangalaesque at times. People have forgotten the "Liability Lescott" tag.
  • QPR threw the game at 2-2 when they knew they were safe. We all know it.
  • Jadon Sancho is a bottle merchant who didn't fancy himself to compete against Jesus and he'll never be a top player because he lacks the courage to be one.
  • People who hark back to the "good old days" when we were crap are remembering a time that doesn't exist. Being a City fan was fucking shit for most of the past 30 years before the takeover and I refuse to believe anybody actually enjoyed going every week and watching us get fucking twatted by Swindon or some other bunch of plodders. I was there too, it was wank.
  • With modern day training, diet and coaching, Kinkladze would be a £100m player and it would be cheap at that. Stop being scared to say this because rags might take the piss.
  • Our matchgoing fanbase is way too old and it is a contributing factor in the atmosphere.
Ok guys I'd better be off for a week, see you later!

Have you checked out this recent BT sport documentary about the academies?

http://sport.bt.com/video/bt-sport-films-no-hunger-in-paradise-91364241852638

Jim makes an appearance and they mention Sancho.. who i think will be a massive talent but these talents are affected by the millennial lifestyle and he will burn out. (countless recent youth players have fallen down the leagues).

Plus someone mentioned they liked Klopp. I cant stand him.. i think liverpool can do so much better...he measures success on one result and cries when he doesnt get his way.

Txiki Begiristain is an underrated clog in the whole city system and turned us into the powerhouse we are in 5-6 short years.

I also follow NYCFC and got a shirt. Made me a bit more interested in world football/ jack Harrison who could be a talent.

Good thread this, I like it.

For me, the collective football knowledge/wisdom of this forum is absolutely abysmal and a stain on the game of football.

We had Balotelli down as world class (he's found his level at Nice) and we had Mangala down as world class (I was banned twice for pointing out that they were both dreadful - but I nevertheless have a soft spot for Manga). And it's no surprise to see the same people who thought both of the above opinions now think that Kompany was average. If I was Ric, I would have seriously closed the forum down.

Also, I think a lot of people like listening to Gary Neville on this forum so I guess I'm in a minority when I say I think he's a biased ****, constantly peddling the narrative about our tactical fouls.

We've won no more with him then we did without him..Not sure you can call us a powerhouse...Yet

ok ok powerhouse is a strong word but if you measured City now against pre 2012 City. The differences are vast, transfers, presence in world football, revenues, social media outlets, facilities ...everything has increased or improved.

Er.....hello.......Anybody there?........I'm looking for a man City fan site......

The atmosphere is shit and it’s pretty much all down to the supporters
Nike are shit but the owners don’t care about the fans
Txiki greatness is myth based on a chequebook and his mate pep helping him out
We have underachieved since the takeover
Our youth academy is a profit making scheme the same as Chelsea
The obsession with the rags is embarrassing
The obsession with the media is embarrassing
Mangala has been treated poorly by pep
Sterling will never be a natural goal scorer
Red cafe have less biased posters than bluemoon
The match day thread accurately mirrors what is wrong with society
We don’t owe our owners any gratitude so putting them on a pedestal is desperately sad

  • 10 years ago my dad bought me a Man Utd kit with my last name on the back when I came to visit him in Singapore. It wasn't cheap so I had to pretend I loved it and I even wore it out that night. Funny enough that was the week City beat the scum 4-1 with SWP scoring a cracker to put it to bed, and my love for Citeh was forever cemented. The kit now resides somewhere in Tanzania and I am certain I will never see it again (another story).
  • I have never wanted Sanchez and I still don't; he needs to carry a team to be happy and he won't do that here. He will be a trouble maker.
  • If you are a foreigner (like me) and you sit in the away end you better sing for 90 mins - also if you believe you deserve a ticket over a local because you are willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money then you deserve to be scammed.
  • I actually thought Bony was a great signing and an upgrade on Dzeko. It took me a while to swallow that pill.
  • I don't mind Neville as a pundit either, Carragher not so much.
  • As a Toronto FC fan I cannot stand NYFC, David Villa nor their ridiculous stadium.
  • Unlike the rest of the top six I quite like Liverpool and Klopp. He is a mad man but he is entertaining without being despisable, and his teams play nice football.
  • I don't think Gundogan will ever fully recover from his injuries to reach the level he was at before. He is scared to take risks. Bernardo, on the other hand, will come good and become a stand out player for us.
  • As much as I hate the scum I am fond of Mata, De Gea, Martial, Valencia and Rashford. I still want them all to fail miserably and the rest I utterly detest.
  • I have never met a reasonable United fan capable of viewing anything in an unbiased, non-delusional manner. Not one.

We had Balotelli down as world class (he's found his level at Nice) and we had Mangala down as world class (I was banned twice for pointing out that they were both dreadful - but I nevertheless have a soft spot for Manga). If only someone didn't threaten your family every day that forced you to come on here. What a happy life that would be rather than having to wade through something you dislike so much.

And Balotelli was world class as a teenager and there was no reason to think he wouldn't go on to be one of the best players in the world. In fact he SHOULD have done and it was only down to his attitude and mismanagement that he didn't.

I guess you'd have to actually watch football rather than sit sniping on forums that you feel are beneath you to understand that though?

And no you weren't banned for pointing out a player was dreadful. Yet another pillock who can't take any responsibility for their shitty behaviour and instead just lies about what they were banned for.

As with the other one, feel free to front up with the user names and we can tell everyone exactly what you were banned for and see if it adds up with your "I was banned for saying Mangala was dreadful" story.

There isn't any difference between Roberto Mancini or Manuel Pellegrini and although it seemed a tough call (or the wrong decision) it was for the best. It was the right decision and should of been made earlier in replacing Joe Hart with Claudio Bravo or alternative keeper (even though the signing hasn't worked out). The EDS even with the promising players such as Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz etc is still a long way off in producing , or will never produce the right players for the first team. Mangala is still worthy of a place in the squad for the rest of the season at the very least. Raheem Sterling , (or the rest of the team for that matter) will never get over the mental block when playing against Liverpool (at Anfield).
