Thought it ok myself. Not to sure what people expect, it's a drama series set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. which is exactly what we're getting. We can't have all out war every episode or it would soon get boring.
Personally I think this season has been very fresh. Ric is a broken man, he's gone from being the Alpha male to being someones woman, and so far he is being just that, a woman. He's not pretending either, Negan has broken him. It will be fascinating to see how they get back from this and to see how he regains the groups respect.
Got to disagree about Ric, he's smart enough to fake it knowing that if he doesn't then they're all dead (if they're lucky).

It's actually hard watching at the moment as you can't see how they're going to get out from under his heel. A little bit uncomfortable viewing to be honest.

I've not read the books or anything but I reckon they are going to get out from under the cosh by all 3 groups, Rick, Ezekiel and Jesus' mobs coming together to fuck on Negan, with them finding out where he lives and then Daryl helping poison the apple, as it were, from within. It has been harder to watch but it cant be all deaths, drama and action all the time or it would get repetitive, these episodes are building the tension and the story is moving on by showing the different points of view from the different groups in full, rather than flitting to one from the other in the style of GoT.

Carl's dad in real life put a tweet out suggesting his son had left the show and that his contract hasnt been renewed, he is off to Uni next year so it figures he might have to leave, which will please many who dont like him for some reason, he needs a hair cut thats for sure.

You're probably right about the 3 groups having to combine to beat him combined with whatever effect Ezekiel's poisoning of the pigs has on them.

Don't get me wrong about the quality of the show, it is still absolutely top notch and I don't expect full on action every week (I'd find that boring eventually). It's more to do with the emotional pull you feel for the characters and how helpless they appear (I didn't know about the morse code theory). I guess that just emphasises how good the show is.

I've seen people complain about certain GoT episodes and entire series because of 'lack of action', I've loved every single one of them although being a long term fan of the books may be part of it.

Is there a mid season break this year? Last season had 16 episodes, so im guessing we are nearly half way through it will finish for a few months. I fully expected a it to be very somber and building the tension over the first 5 or 6 episodes, but 7 in now and nothing has happened really. Just finished episode 7 and felt a totally wasted 45 minutes.

Strange......as i could have sworn that a new community was introduced and, subsequently, more build up to an inevitable and very violent encounter.

It did, but i dont see the point of introducing a new community, just dilutes the storyline even further.
