The war of Johnson's Ego

Calm down calm down. This sort of thing used to happen all the time althoughess so nowadays. RAF often scrambled over the North Sea to escort Russian aircraft off the premises.
A bit of excitement for the young matelots experiencing it for the first time but the officers and older hands had everything under control.

The difference this time, based on the presence of reporters on the ship, is that this was a staged event by our government for distraction purposes.

Didn’t the Russian’s claim to have chased off HMS Dragon from the same area a few weeks ago?

No reporters on that one - bit of a missed opportunity by Boris then, we’d have all forgotten about COVID and Brexit by now if only he’d had the foresight to add a couple of reporters.

The BBC reporter said that its all about news information from both sides, immediately after a pic showing the ship in the sights of a Russian aircraft.

100%. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the incident with HMS Dragon promoted reporters being invited. Although I don’t think reporters being invited onboard is particularly unusual.

Anyone paying attention knows that Boris wants Britain back as the military power house in Europe and that includes ensuring an all new and modern navy - it’s clear we are going for quality over quantity. I expect we will see plenty more of this type of demonstration of hard power.

Navies don't come cheap though and after Covid and HST to come there's not going to a great deal of spare cash for anything.
The retired Rear Admiral on BBC this morning seemed to think it was all good fun in the old days and wished he was back in it all.
Unconnected other than by Boris. What a scruffy, shambling, round shouldered figure he looked when seeing the Queen.

Governments around the world will continue to borrow hand over fist to promote growth, I don’t see how they can back out of it now, it’s all fucked and they know it, sure they’ll put lipstick on the pig and inflation will be tomorrow’s problem - the booming 20s again. Spending tax payers money in building boats in the UK wouldn’t be the worst use of money in terms of recycling it within the economy.

By the end of all this my generation will have fucked the environment and left so much debt that the next generation will be treading water at best. You’re welcome, we had a good time

Presumably to ensure that all the fish in British waters remain happy and that those Johnny Foreigner trawlers keep their distance.
