The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread (merged)

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

Bony could be our saviour. His enthusiasm to do well for us could resurrect our season.

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

Yaya and Bony will sort this out, but maybe too late for the title, meanwhile we're out of both Cups and face the form team in Europe in the Champions League

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it happening? No.

We've relied and got away with our opponents self-destructing in both our previous PL title wins. We can't expect to get lucky every time.

If we won all 14 remaining games, we'd have a chance. But we are not doing that, and Chelsea aren't losing 4 games from here.

Can you explain your maths :)

As above, I'd be pretty amazed if we went on from here and won all remaining 14 games. Let's assume we won 13 and drew only 1. A pretty fantastic run by any standards. That would give us 89 points in total, which is a respectable number if you are seeking to win the title.

However, Chelsea are on 56. If they win every game they would finish on 98 points. They could lose 3 games and still be on 89. They'd have to lose 3 and draw one or lose 4 for us to be sure to win it. And that's IF we managed 13 wins and a draw. If we drop more than just a couple of points, Chelsea have an even bigger margin of comfort.

Factor in they have an easier run in as well. We've just left ourselves too much to do.

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

We've been awful in January and it has cost us. With the great run we had we should have beaten Burnley - that gives us two more points. We should have held on at Goodison when 1-0 up and added another 2points and we should have beaten Hull to add 2 more. That would put us 1pt behind Chelsea.

As has been calculated for us to win we need to be getting a minimum of 89points. To do that from here is so difficult with the games we have. It also requires Chelsea to drop a lot of points. Either one of those scenarios is unlikely. For both to occur is near on impossible. It won't happen this time. We can't keep having slow starts, poor mid seasons and a strong end. We need to be setting the pace not trying to catch up but our players can't seem to do it. That's their mentality and our manager needs to change it.

We are playing an in form Barca team in the CL but we really have to beat them to take anything from this season. The CL is probably our best chance of a trophy which says a lot!

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

Irrespective of whether we can win the title, we need to make sure that the gap doesn't increase any further and hopefully narrow it. In 12/13 our season was over after the Southampton defeat when United went 12 points clear. The mood around the club was awful for the rest of the season. At least we managed to hang on to second place then. I'm not sure that we would do that this season if we went 10+ points behind Chelsea.

I still think that if we can narrow the gap to 4 points or less before the end of March, Chelsea will slip up. But at the moment it seems much more likely that the gap will widen rather than narrow

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

No we won't, haven't you been watching us this season - we have frankly been poor from the off.

World Cup didn't help, Yaya pissing about didn't help, new signings not clicked/not good enough, Aguero carrying us then got injured, snail pace build up, corner kicks and tactics.

So hope I am wrong but very much doubt it.

Re: The 'We Will Win the Title' Thread

Ya right!! asking Maureen to lose three matches while we win all is still too much to ask . Top that with Fat Sam and Bruce out wit our reverse engineering.
Thank God we are over 40 points.
